I've always favored the Silverburst Lado. On the black one, the neck pickup ring extends out into the cutaway for some reason. The body dimensions must be somewhat different between the two.
There's nothing controversial about what you said/wrote as far as I'm concerned. I remember watching a video of Metallica playing, James Hetfield broke a string (the sound of the video was the soundboard recording of that show) on one of his ESP Explorers (which had/has a Mahogany Body & Neck)...
^^
Probably somewhere where they store their gear. He could obviously have gifted it to someone/somebody but I wouldn't have been surprised if it'd have eventually been for sale somewhere if that had happened, so I'm going to guess that it's simply in storage with his other gear. Like I...
Makes sense that it was a Kahler Steeler, because in some early pictures of it, you can see that there is no retainer bar after the locking nut, because the Kahler stringlock had (and still has, as they are making the 2700 series, the Steeler (2760) being one of them) that feature built into it.
This is a Jackson J-50BC Pickup
According to the following image, 2nd one down from the top(chart), it was suitable for both neck and bridge positions. It's basically a vintage style humbucker with a ceramic magnet instead of an AlNiCo magnet.
Here's what they say about the pickup...
It's probably impossible for us to figure out unless we get an opportunity to ask the man himself probably.
I know that Jackson has used Duncans (as well as Dimarzio's since it first started in the early 80s, the second Rhoads V prototype as seen in this picture
had a Seymour Duncan JB in the...
If I remember correctly, the CAR Fender Strat was a prototype for the Floyd Rose Classic Stratocaster which was produced between 1992 and 1998. The FR classic (as we all know) where heavily used by Dave & Adrian from the late 90s.
Yeah, looks very much like 2 different SG's indeed, I too noticed the different woodgrain on both of 'em.
Regarding the pups, do you have some info on how they might have been Jackson's in-house pickups (like, have you talked to some of the builders or perhaps H's or Dave's guitar techs at the...
I love it too, gotta make a replica of that one, one of these days haha.
When I was googling pics of the CAR Jackson, I came across all these cool pics (Pinterest), so I thought I'd share 'em, it is a Guitar thread after all so I thought; "what the hell"..
Dave's white Jackson. Note the input jack on the side (like Adrians current Jackson Signature), the smaller Jackson logo on the headstock and the enlarged cavity for the Floyd Rose (allowing one to pull up, as well as push down on it). This is the only guitar I've seen Dave play that has that...
In this excellent photo, we can observe that the pickups have no adjustable pole pieces whatsoever, so as Matic mentioned, they could be Jacksons in-house pickups, or perhaps some other brand.
I might have been wrong about Dave's CAR Jackson regarding the pickups. I've googled around a bit, and I've yet to find one showing pickups with SD logo's on them, I must have been thinking about another guitar. During my 15-20 minutes of "research" though, I found out that Seymour Duncan didn't...
It's cool that they're doing a new set of signature models, and congrats to Janick for getting one, it's well deserved. Like others mentioned, it's a shame that you basically pay a premium for the signature at the back of the headstock, as it's pretty much identical to the Vintera series in...
