Just saw a clip of the intro
His voice is better than I've heard it in years.
Someone's been getting some training
Maiden are seriously impressive. There's a magic about their performance even after just a 5 min watch
The best band on earth
If they do carry on, there might be a lot more mid tempo and slow songs to allow Bruce to hit the higher notes. He gets away with it on BOS compared the to breathless TFF in which the speed of the playing ran him over.
I don't even understand the need to sing high though. Maiden are all about...
Contrary to reviews and most opinions, The red and the black doesn't really do it for me, sounds too similar to many other Harris tunes. The rest of the album though just keeps growing. It's fantastic.
Time to ask for forgiveness. I was a bit negative to start with about this album, probably a result of trying to shake off the hangover of TFF.
BOS is amazing. Top 3 at least, maybe more. I feel relieved the penny has finally dropped. But the love was always there.
The more you listen to those...
I thought the guitars were sublime. I haven't heard them sound like this ever. The production with respect to the instruments is excellent. The drum sound is spot on.
Bruce on the other hand is a mixed bag on this record. On the mid to slow tempo songs, he can hit the notes with ease and he...
Love the production
Some of the songs are great, some are crap
The ones that are bad are too repetitive
This album could have been cut to 60 min and then it would have been supreme. For now there is a lot of chaff to sort through
My expectations were high for TFF. I was quite dissapointed. It was nearly shite in my book.
It wasn't a catastrophy though. Part of the whole maiden experience is the expectation and when it is matched by the end product, well it's the wow experience of the century.
When it's not, you still...
So far this has been one of the most convincing reviews. It mentions one negative with "Bruce chasing the melody and leaving the listener breathless" in 'when the river runs deep'. I find the review much more credible than the others in that it mentions a niggle quite a few fans can relate to...
Lord of light is the best song on the album.
His singing is immense and is as insistent as his best efforts from the eighties.
It's far better than his recent nebuliser reaching efforts of late.
I think Bruce's voice sounds better in this single compared to the stuff from TFF, where he sounded like he was drowning in his own phlegm.
Bruce's voice now sounds better live than in the studio but compared to his 80s and 90s days , the studio voice was superior.
Apologies if I have gone...
Hammersmith odeon, 1986, Somewhere on tour. I was 15 yrs old. Tickets cost £6.70 and it was the best night of my life. Nothing comes even close.
It's shocking they never filmed these shows and released them.
