The Genesis of Somewhere in Time

Wow, that's killer information, thank you very much, mate. Having this in mind it also seams clearer that editing in Holland was definitely done down to entire song structures. I've mentioned it before, for example, I see zero chance that the instrumental breaks of Deja Vu and RSRD would have...

The Genesis of Somewhere in Time

bringing this interesting read up hoping that Luisma could to tell some more details about Run Silent Run deep beeing the 9th song of SIT that got rejected. I have to admit that I would give a lot to be able to hear these demos from 1986 myself.

    The Future Past tour 2023

Interesting to learn that there is a keyboard part in Caught somewhere in time. Probably during the guitar harmony parts? I can't hear anything. There is none in the studio version (after the intro), I think.

    Sixth Powerslave Song Played Live?

Now this I can rule out. I have compared both, the supposed Warsaw and the Iron Maidens clips very closely. The phrasing of the guitar players is very different which is mostly notable on the very last note of bar 2, before it gets repeated (and just before the supposed Warsaw ends) . The...

Which songs never worked live as good as in the original studio version?

One more thing on Wasted Years: For all the guitarists among us, anyone who's ever tried playing this riff will have noticed that it's actually difficult to get the right amount of attack out of the high E string, especially with the 9s that Adrian would play. So I bet the riff part was heavily...

Live After Death album what was played where ?

Lately I found on youtube ‘Iron Maiden - Children of the Damned - Hammersmith 10/10/1984’. I am not sure if I am allowed to put a link here but you’ll easily find it yourselves. I did a comparison to the official release using Audacity. It is in fact the very same performance and you can...

The Genesis of Somewhere in Time

I would even go as far and say that they used some ideas of RSRD in the instrumental part of Davey´s Deja Vu. Ever noticed how similar the twin guitar runs sound? I remember when I heard RSRD in 1990 I thought it was the first time they really repeated themselves.

    New single: Stratego

Best use of guitar playing along with the vocal melody so far for me in Maiden (not the biggest fan of that feature in general). The lower register of the voice in the verses supports that. I like the solo - this is Jan as he is. This time it is not hyperdramatic but suits the song very well...
