    General album artwork appreciation

^ Beautiful stuff, reminds me of John Martin's epic, apocalyptic style. The Seventh Plague of Egypt: Destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum: Belshazzar's Feast: His piece The Fallen Angels Entering Pandemonium was used for Angel Witch's debut album.

Iron Maiden in the strangest places

Not the strangest place, but a little surprising. I've been listening to Jerry Cantrell's I Want Blood album recently, the intro of the song Off The Rails sounded pretty familiar... I wondered if it was just coincidence, I wasn't sure Jerry would be much of a Maiden fan, but apparently he is...

Snap, Sixes  Further info, FM recorded it as a demo in 1984.

Nah he's messing, Diesel's probably given all those songs 10/10 anyway.

    Now drinking

I'm not a beer drinker, but 0% ciders and gins are very good, the gins are surprisingly close to the real thing. 0% rum is garbage though. My friend bought a bottle, tried it once and gave the bottle to me, said if I didn't like it I was welcome to pour it down the sink. I didn't like it, so...

5 Songs For a New Maiden Fan

I think the essential parts of Maiden's music are the gallop, Bruce's voice, the upbeat energy, the epic feel (even in shorter songs), the long epics themselves, and the guitar harmonies. I think these would nicely cover all of that: The Trooper Rime of the Ancient Mariner The Evil That Men Do*...

Songs where the guitar shadows the vocal melody

A surprisingly short list, though it's missing Lost In A Lost World, which is one of the worst cases of guitar following the vocals in my opinion. Empire of the Clouds has piano following the vocals, and the guitar riff around 12:33 also follows the vocal line.

    Rant Thread

Here's a ramble on Yungblud, 'cause he's everywhere at the moment and I have opinions. First off, he does appear to have had a genuine relationship with Ozzy (it might be a little exaggerated? People talk like Ozzy was his step-dad or something. I dunno how deep it actually was, I'm not gonna...

I put it in here so more people would see it, lo and behold Mosh answered pretty much straight away, and I am grateful for his response. Personally I think it was very needed :ok:

My thumb placement is OK I think, though it does shift over the top of the neck to mute the low E string when I'm playing open chords that don't need it, which does sometimes put my hand in some awkward positions. My bigger problem with the thumb is using it to grip the neck, it's like I'm...

Guitarists of MaidenFans, any of you got any tips or advice for how to play with less tension and/or strengthen your muscles, particularly in the fretting hand? I've been playing a fair bit over the last week in preparation for a gig on Saturday and an area around the tendons in my left wrist...
