Eww. Why is Slayer ahead of Maiden?

Brave New World is Maidens best album by a fair margin. One of the greatest albums ever made, period.

Maiden should have cut the majority of the shorter songs from TBOS, and extended The Great Unknown into an epic 8 or 9 minute song. 1- If Eternity Should Fail 2- Speed of Light 3- The Great Unknown (9 minute version) 4- The Red and the Black (Also 9 minute version :P ) 5- The Book of Souls 6-...

I still do think it's a great album, although not quite the masterpiece it was made out to be. I generally skip about 1/2 to 1/3 of the album when I listen to it.

I personally can't stand it. Don't get me wrong, I adore Rime, and it's one of my top 5 favorite Maiden tracks. If it weren't for that middle section, it would be my favorite Maiden track with a bullet. As it stands, I fast forward through it every time.

Disc one is better overall, however, disc two has EOTC. Hard choice, but I went with disc one.

I love the melodies in this song, particularly towards the end. Could have done without the last chorus section, though. Still amongst my favorites on the album.

I honestly think this song should have been extended a bit. It kind of stops a little abruptly for me. Could have been a really good epic. Still a killer song. Love the chorus.

By sandwiching a bunch of creaky boat bullshit into the middle of it? :P

Empire feels like a much shorter song than TRATB, despite being quite a bit longer. Unlike TRATB, pretty much every part feels necessary and gives something to the song. THAT is how you do a long song.

Empire of the Clouds would like a word with you.

Cut the intro riff by half, cut the beginning from 4 verses to 2 verses, remove one or two of the "Oooh" parts, cut the "Red and the Black" part by half, cut the riff where the tempo of the song picks up in half.

Basically it's way too long with too many repeating parts. Cut about 4 minutes off of it and it would be an infinitely better track IMHO.
