An album with demos, rejected material, etc.

Legend has it that SSOASS was originally meant to be a full-concept double album. But due to record label pressures, the band decided to release it earlier as a regular LP. Did anybody ever hear of this?

Satellite 15 . . . The Final Frontier: Video Impressions Here

Solos are definitely Adrian, then Dave. The song (or at least this version of it) is a bit dissapointing though. Like the verse and the solos, but the bridge and the chorus are quite sub-par. The riffs are pretty ordinary, no guitar melodies. Gave it 2-3 spins now and it really gave me about the...

    BLAZE singing Wasted Years

Haha, stumbled across this just now. What a surprise. Blaze sounds pretty good, I think. They´ve transposed the song a whole step down do D minor. I think it´s a proof that Blaze could have sounded a lot better on old Maiden stuff if the band were willing to transpose some of their tracks for him.

    New album: The Final Frontier!

Of course, as I mentioned, the cover art just sucks. Eddie himself is OK, but the unfinished poser stuff makes DoD the worst IM cover in history, to my opinion. However musically, for me DoD is far better than BNW, even though the latter is often celebrated as the "reunion album".

    New album: The Final Frontier!

Just to share my opinion, not that I have some useful information... I also suspect this being the last IM studio album. Yes, it's the title that makes me think so. I remember having the exact same feelings when Alice Cooper released The Last Temptation in 1994. Great album, totally f'kin'...

    Adrian Smith's Jackson Doubleneck

Dammit! Spitfire, you're the man. You got it. Karma to you, my friend. EDIT: OK, well, it seems there's no karma on this forum, but thanx anyway :-))

    Adrian Smith's Jackson Doubleneck

Yeah, the doubleneck must definitely be a custom made thing. I don't think that Jackson makes stocks of such instruments. As for the youtube footage...yes, the upper neck seemed to have a slightly different setup, but it definitely had "regular" (i.e. coils) pickups. Either single-coils, or...

    Adrian Smith's Jackson Doubleneck

OK, if this doesn't solve it... Here's a youtube link to a video from Download 2007 festival, where Maiden play You can see H playing that guitar. The upper part of it looks very weird, as if the strings were continuing beyond the bridge towards the right edge of the guitar and were ending in...

    Adrian Smith's Jackson Doubleneck

I´m pretty sure that both necks were six strings. Both parts of the guitars were also equipped with standard pickups, so there´s no way H was switching between regular and piezo-pickups. Even if he was doing that, there would be no reason for a doubleneck (see e.g. John Petrucci of Dream...

    Adrian Smith's Jackson Doubleneck

    My deepest apologies, problem fixed.

The song with the highest note.

Bruce sings a high D several times in "Invaders" and in the chorus of "Run To The Hills" (ruuun for your liives). If sung properly, the highest note of "for" should be a high D, I guess. The final note on "Aces High", and the opening verse of "Quest For Fire" are pretty high too, but I'm not...

    Adrian Smith's Jackson Doubleneck

Hi, I'm new to the forum and the search engine did not return any results matching these keywords, so hopefully I'm not opening a repeating topic. I've seen Maiden live in Ostrava, Czech Rep. and saw Adrian Smith playing a red Jackson doubleneck guitar on . I've seen the same guitar on some...
