Rate all their studio album cover artworks worst to best

Dick Brucinson

Dave Sustaine
Let's rate all their studio album cover artworks worst to best. So this is absolutely not about any music from each of those records, but only a ranking of the covers. My favourite is AMOLAD because it looks really evil, is greatly set and also has a strong message. Senjutsu is the one I like the least. I know many people don't like the DOD cover, but I personally think it deserves some appreciation and I think there's something about it.

My entire ranking:

-
Senjutsu
The Final Frontier
Virtual XI
Brave New World
No Prayer For The Dying
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
The X Factor
The Number Of The Beast
Fear Of The Dark
Dance Of Death
Piece Of Mind
Iron Maiden
Powerslave
Somewhere In Time
The Book Of Souls
Killers
A Matter Of Life And Death

Senjutsu is the one I like the least.
Any reason why? I ask because TBOS is your 3rd favorite cover. I like it a lot (even without a background) and it's near the top of my ranking.
I know many people don't like the DOD cover, but I personally think it deserves some appreciation and I think there's something about it.
It needs a remaster. It would have been way better without the CGI graphics. I like it more than POM, NPFTD and TXF.

Fear of the Dark, Powerslave, and Somewhere in Time stand far apart from the other album covers. Those 3 are brilliant classics.

Worst by far are the Blaze album covers. They kind of suck. The Book of Souls and Senjutsu covers have good-looking Eddies, but I don’t like the non-existent background art.

The rest are all decent.

Perfect covers: Fear Of The Dark, Powerslave, Killers, Somewhere In Time, Iron Maiden and The Number Of The Beast.

Could have been better: Dance Of Death, The Final Frontier (the cover is underrated imo, but it would have been better if Eddie was shown in full length, methinks).

I don't like Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son cover that much, but it's great, like Brave New World cover.

The Book Of Souls and Senjutsu could have been perfect if they had backgrounds. Great covers.

Virtual XI cover is underrated, very good cover imo. I'm not a big fan of The X Factor cover (especially being so realistic).

A Matter Of Life And Death is a good-looking cover, but Eddie should have been up front.

No Prayer For The Dying and Piece Of Mind covers are good, but they are kind of boring.

The rest are all decent.
Even Killers? A classic cover for sure.
Not ranking the Eddies, I'm ranking the covers
They should go hand in hand. It would be unfair if some cover (AMOLAD, for example) is better than Senjutsu (one of the band's best Eddies imo) just because it has a background.

My favorite Eddies are: Killers, Powersalve, Fear Of The Dark, The Final Frontier, The Book Of Souls and Senjutsu.

My favorite backgrounds/details are for: Killers, Powerslave, Somewhere In Time, Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son and Brave New World.

The X Factor: poor Ed why this end!

A Matter Of Life and Death: beautiful scene but Ed is hardly seen !!
The Book of Souls: good but too simple.
Senjutsu: same speech to TBOS!
Fear of the Dark: I'm not a fan of this cover but it often ends up in a good position and I don't know why?
Killers: Terrifyng super cool.
Brave New World: Thanks Derek.

Virtual XI- Dunno why just kinda insperationaless (if that's a word)
No Prayer for the Dying - Boring Eddie
Senjutsu- Eddie not bad but needs background. Inlay art much better
TBOS- See Senjutsu
DOD- Again decent Eddie but.. well we all know the rest
BNW- A bit non plus
XFactor- Like the idea of a 'real life' Eddie just could have been brought a bit more into perspective
Final Frontier- Not bad but the most 'un-Eddie' like
A Matter of Life and Death- Good Eddie but again a bit too small on the front cover, needs to be more to the fore
Fear of the Dark- Sinister looking
Iron Maiden- Iconic, simple but effective
Piece of Mind- Again simple but iconic Eddie
Powerslave- Again Eddie a little in the background but genius idea
7TH Son- Love it
NOTB- Almost perfect
Somewhere in Time- Where do you start? Epic!
Killers- What says Eddie more than this front cover

1) Dance Of Death
2) The Final Frontier
3) The X Factor

My only issue with TFF is the key (or whatever) Eddie holds in his hand and the angle he holds it. It looks super goofy, because it's tiny and perfectly horizontal. Kinda ruins the whole thing. Also, despite what the artist says (or what his idea was), it's still Eddie. Rod wouldn't allow that to not be classified as Eddie :D

The Final Frontier - Is it really Eddie or some kind of Predator rip-off???
A matter of life and death - The cover isn't that bad but..where's Eddie????
Dance of death - The Eddie is quite good but...we all know what is the problem here
The X Factor - A real life Eddie...hmmmh not the greatest idea and where's the rest of Eddie (awful idea of artwork as well )
Virtual XI - Hmmmh, not a bad idea, it's just that something's missing to really enjoy it
Brave New World: The general artwork is great, it's just that Eddie is "lost" a bit as a cloud
No Prayer for the Dying - Running out of ideas for this artwork? The drawing is good, it's just too predictable
The Book of souls - The Eddie is well drawn but why no background? Specially when some inlay art is way better
Senjutsu - The Eddie is a bit better than the one on TBOS but for the rest..same comments as above
Iron Maiden - Iconic cover, it's just a little bit too simple
Piece of Mind - Maybe its quite simple but very effective and love a bald Eddie
Fear of the Dark- A change of style but really "dark" and good idea
The number of the beast - Love the Eddie, the rest is quiet good if not awesome
Killers - Amazing Eddie, the background is ok but very good
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - Great Eddie, great background, great colors
Powerslave- Amazing cover, of course Eddie is not that present as he used to but it just works so well that we almost forget about it (not like AMOLAD)
Somewhere in Time- Could it get any better than this? Amazing Eddie, the best IMO and the background, so many ideas, so many details, its insanely great
