Side 2 sinks this one for me. There's a long way to go between the good material... Whereas Side 1 is actually a decent run of simple and good Maiden songs.

There’s a thread in the commentary section for each Maiden album that already covers this. The one for NPFTD is here.

The music is good, but the lyrics and the absurdly growly vocals are like a boat anchor around its neck, IMO.
I really like the midpart but agree the lyrics and Bruce´s vocals (especially in the verses) devalue the song abit.

I think the vocals on Hooks in You are great, he sounds like the sleazy character in the song. One of the rare times his 90s rasp works.

I freaking love this album. I do not feel like ranking the songs. They all sound alive and great to me!
great to meet someone in here liking the album too. NPFTD is one of my favourite Maiden albums. when it came out in 1990 I was a bit disappointed, but it has grown a lot over the years to me, so now it is very high in my rating.

If you compare the guitar work to what they did since, it blows all the later albums out of the water(maybe not FOTD but IMO both FOTD and NPFTD have killer guitars)!
