Just some statistics of the new album on YouTube so far:

I got the flag videos to make this, of course Stratego and TWOTW have much more views than the other ones.

For TWOTW I considered the video with the cover art.

Here's the list ordered by % Likes / Views:

Darkest Hour557,406
Death of the Celts528,411

Hell on Earth476,053

Curious that HoE is one of the most viewed videos on YT and the least streamed song on Spotify. Probably because it's the last song on the album though, the values are decreasing from track to track, with the only expection being DOFP (surely due to its length and nostalgia from the 80s fans).

Probably an algorithm pushing HoE on youtube, the rest of the tracks are all kind of in the same ball park, bar the two singles and the title track

Well a lot of comments on YT originate from Latin Americas I believe so one should take into account market penetration there.

For instance Spotify vs YT in Croatia is about 5:95 % because Spotify became available last year and because there's a shit trove of local music that isn't available anywhere bar user uploads on YT. Like broken up ex Yugoslav bands and stuff.

Youtube also does not require a registration which is a huge bonus. It's just there and it's on the first page if you google the song, e.g. if you're a grandma and you type in the name of song in your cellphone you're one tap away from YT stream.

I always saw Spotify in the competition of iTunes, ex-Grooveshark, Deezer or what's it called, and failed Youtube Music project (YT Premium?). It's not directly comparable with ordinary YT because YT is a mix of social network, promotion platform, entertainment platform, education, and the biggest archival dump of music and videos in existence. This makes YT a centerpiece of a lot of people's "Internet experience" whereas Spotify is another web page or another app.

Yeah, you're right, but Spotify's numbers are on most cases higher than the official YT clips regarding Senjutsu, quite curious. I think the advantage those stats on Spotify is because they compile all streams in a single number.

I'm sure the songs have more views on YT than Spotify, but on most cases those views are split between a lot of videos. For example, here in Brazil there are people already posting videos of Senjutsu songs with PT-BR subtitles. Then we have the lyric videos as well and so on.

The track ordering influences the Spotify views. It seems that people play the first song and let the album run until, I don't know, they get to work or finish their jogging. Youtube has a different algorithm. Hell on Earth popped up on my initial page several times.

Yeah, user videos do a lot of traffic.

This is funny
