I'm so jealous. Although I saw Mastodon, Gojira and Opeth already and don't care for EODM or Russian Circles. But seeing all this in one night would be incredible.

F**k Mastodon, but to see Opeth and Gojira in one evening would be really nice.

I came across Gojira when they were being the support for Metallica... and in some ways, they were even better than the main star of the evening.

You're allowed to swear, you know :p Also,

Same. Well, Metallica is always entertaining, but Gojira's performance was flawless. Although it was in broad daylight and trve kvlt br00tal thrashers were booing them.

You can't deny they can be pretty annoying. :p

I thought it was just the stupid Czechs who came for their fix of Nothing Else Matters  Because here it was definitely more like that. Still, a lot of booing, yet the blokes played an excellent show anyway. I still remember them vividly 5 years later, so I guess they won in the long run.

(Exclusively) thrash metal fans are the worst metalheads. Easy to distinguish them at shows since they are usually the dirtiest and drunkest and most stereotypical metalheads.

Well I'm slightly less jealous, Devin Townsend was just announced for the Red Rocks show too! :shred:

Russian Circles are good. Seen them live. They should have a short set in this lineup so that's nice for people who don't know them well yet. They can get pretty intense.

Huh. Opeth music videos are so meh to me, that one was neat but overall very blah. Something they have to do, I suppose.

Gotta love Mikael's quote about it:

”I have to say our involvement in the making of the ”Era” video was so minimal we can’t take credit either for or against its brilliance. We did 3D scans of our bodies (clothed) in Munich during the last European tour. I remember everyone’s extremely tired and probably slightly hungover. The director just placed us in a ice-cold room and then scanned us with something that looked like a flashing hairdryer. Done! We’ve done our part for the video. Next! During the process of finishing the piece it got clear to me that it really works with the song. That’s something I was involved in actually, picking the song. It’s extremely difficult. Which song to choose? How do I know what works best for this format? Well, I don’t. I picked a song from the record that has a strong chorus. Slightly old school way of thinking I guess, but ultimately it didn’t matter all that much to me. The video is nice. I dig it. It’s slightly on the pretentious side, but hey, works for me! And like I said, it really works with the overall vibe of the song. Lyrically and musically and definitely emotionally." - Mikael Åkerfeldt

Also, and this is totally random, but why does every metal/rock band at some point in their career have shirtless young boys on album covers/music videos/t-shirts/etc.?

Album covers: A Change of Seasons, 2112, Houses of the Holy, Nevermind, 1/2 of U2's albums...

I know there's more, I just can't think of them. I dunno, just seems like a weird cliche that happens re: innocence/loss of innocence, etc.

Very cool little bit of info, but I think it's pretty obvious that he's speaking more in jest than reality. I cannot for a second imagine that Mikael is seriously considering ever adding BRI to the set.

Here's the full interview:

He talks about potentially playing Still Life in full!

EDIT: He also says Devin Townsend Project is on the U.S. Opeth/Gojira tour?! Welp, guess I'm seeing Devin again...

I don't think it's too much of a stretch. I saw another interview with Mikael where he says that he really loves playing the old songs.

The big setback is length, but I don't think it's that big of a deal. They could do it for a one off.
