Where would you place Maiden?

We're all Maiden fans... But is Maiden your number one favourite band? Do you think they're the best metal band ever? THE best band ever? Why?

I'm curious because many times on band forums people seem to crticize bands a lot more than loving them, so to speak...
 
They are my favorite metal band and band in general. They have been more consistent than any other band I think in terms of always putting out an overall amazing album. Even their least favorable album to me is at least an 8/10. They have melody, rhythm, great story telling songs and great energy on stage, even for their age today. They keep going, they keep things fresh a lot with new albums and always seem to push forward and do things that appeal to their whole audience. They have not washed out so to speak and keep going. No other band I would want to be a fan of

3. Frank Zappa
4. Genesis
5. Led Zeppelin

Btw, and out of pure curiosity, what album is your least favourite (8/10)?

Interesting.

Also, speaking of the band's appeal, one of the things i like about maiden, apart from the music, is their visual presentation. A good example is some of their album covers. So much detail, it's almost like they have their own enviorment, you know? Like every cover is a universe in itself
 
the artwork is really better than any other I have ever seen and very appealing. I have tattoos of Eddie on my arms
 
Maiden are my favourite band, but I'd probably say Black Sabbath and Metallica have had slightly more of an impact metal-wise. I think they've beaten out Judas Priest by this point, and the next closest band is probably Slayer or Megadeth.

I think there's even a website that kind of organizes all the details on the album cover of Somewhere in Time, your favourite album. Sick!
 
Favorite band for the last 32 last years and the next 30 years (at least). Nothing has ever been close in my heart, but as follow-ups I would name Sabbath, Tull, Slayer and Mastodon.

Favorite metal band? Maybe. Probably. Up until Iconoclast, that honor went to Symphony X, but I'd have to say Maiden probably surpasses them now.

Favorite band? Maybe. Favorite artist? No, that goes to Tom Waits.
