The Rock in Rio version of Sign of the Cross is outstanding; I consider it to be one of the band's best live moments. The Blaze version? Yeah, not so much. Still, there's a few other songs from the X albums that I wish they'd play live more often.
I think the studio version of 'Sign of the Cross' is fantastic in its own right. The 'Rock in Rio' version is fantastic of course, but the original recording deserves recognition as one of the best Iron Maiden songs.
Besides the lack of energy, I think it's pretty obvious that the vocal melodies were written with Bruce in mind. It's the only song on the album that I think Bruce does/would do a better job.
This is a new round, so a new situation, independent of previous tiebreaks.
Depending on the rules: If it calls for a tiebreak then it does. If it doesn't then it doesn't.
Regardless of the eventual order, I think this is strong top 10. There are a couple of swaps I'd make, but there's nothing left that I find completely undeserving of consideration.
You do realize there are nearly 150 Maiden songs and we're now into the top 7? You're going to start getting persnikety because I think a song is maybe on their 15th best, and you think it's top 5. Get a life, ya bum!
