Chasing Ponce De Leon's Phantoms
Not sure where to post this at so I'll just post here. Not sure what to title it either.
We're studying poetry in class, I've been assigned to find a song with poetic lyrics. (no profanity)We will do more stuff with these lyrics. I would like to use an Iron Maiden song. I have a few songs in my mind but its so hard to pick.
So what Iron Maiden song has the most poetic lyrics that also speaks a good message?

Starblind is a good one. As is this:
In the gloom, the gathering storm abates
In the ships, gimlet eyes await
The call to arms to hammer at the gates
To blow them wide, throw evil to its fate.
All summers long the drills to build the machine
To turn men from flesh and blood to steel
From paper soldiers to bodies on the beach
From summer sands to Armageddon's reach
Overlord, your master not your god
The enemy coast dawning gray with scud
These wretched souls puking, shaking fear
To take a bullet for those who sent them here
The world's alight, the cliffs erupt in flame
No escape, remorseless shrapnel rains
Drowning men, no chance for a warrior's fate
A choking death, enter Hell's gate.

(The Longest Day)
I'd pretty much stop there, the rest of the lyrics are not quite as good.

I was actually considering using the Longest Day, earlier today. :ok:

Starblind's lyrics are far less dreary, so it all depends which kind of mood you think your teacher will appreciate more.

You should check out the discussion on each song in the Iron Maiden Commentary. I recall LooseCannon had a passionate review of Starblind there. Don't plagiarize it, obviously, but it may help you in your assignment insofar as you have to defend your choice of lyrics in class.

Isle of Avalon ... but the others mentioned here would be really good as well .. or you can always go 10 Seconds to Love :)
