I would love for Maiden to release an album of songs that never made it albums.

Yes, I know about b-sides. Those are cover songs though. I mean songs actually written by Maiden like the songs on BNW that were originally written for Virtual XI but never made it to that album.

Yes, I see that, but surely there must be other songs out there that never made it the final album. Again, similar the the songs that didn't make it to Virtual XI and were recorded for BNW.

I'm almost 100% sure that there's no stuff to be released that would be worth hearing except for few covers or so. Maybe some demos of already released songs. Based on their interviews in past few years I think they don't record an original song if they don't plan to put it on an album.

Ya, that's probably true or they would have more than likely released the stuff as b-sides. You never know what might be hiding in the vaults though.

In this thread: http://forum.maidenfans.com/threads/what-is-the-fourth-virtual-xi-song-in-brave-new-world.25487/ we can clearly see that Brave New World had songs on it that were left over from Virtual XI and some seem to think that songs from other albums might be leftovers as well. So surely there must be leftover songs that never made it on other albums. That would be so sweet if Maiden would dig those out of the vault and release them!
The songs you call left overs were not complete recorded songs. These were ideas, perhaps some of them were recorded in the form of individual fragments (a riff, a line of lyric, a melody, you name it).

So nothing can be released directly from the vaults. The only way something old will get up to the surface is by Maiden making something new out of an old idea.

In short: is it possible what you wish?
No, it is not, unless Maiden have lied in the past or suffer from severe amnesia.
