Chez Kane's Guilty Of Love has an awesome melodic instrumental, but WASP's Love Machine is a classic for them. Right between metal and rock.
The Headless Children brings a Sabbath vibe, interesting and underrated ideas. Blood Of My Enemies has a catchier chorus.
And Then There Was Silence vs The Odyssey is interesting, the vocal parts of the former are more in unison.

"The Headless Children" crushes Manowar completely. Why you guys like listening to a bunch of fluff in a slow-spinning washing machine I'll never understand. Grow some balls.
I thought "Red as Blood" was decent, but I wasn't big on the screeching vocals, seemed out of place. "Raining Blood" is a masterpiece.
"And Then There Was Silence" feels like a hodgepodge, but not a bad one. That chorus is really, really good. Unfortunately, it's up against "The Odyssey", which is PERFECT, and - oh, would you look at that, I think the game's over, guys, we've already found our winner.
The Chez Kane song was quite good, I wish her vocals were a little stronger and I wish the solo had a real peak to it but those were some killer melodies. "L.O.V.E. Machine" is a banger and I'm not going to be sad if it loses but I will vote for it.

Manowar have some absolute bores, this one is cool and I loved the chorus. The Headless Children is a bit better overall but these are two good songs from bands I generally don't care for that much.
After 10 minutes of looking at my Spotify library I finally figured it out. The vocalist sounds like Fredrik Thordendal on Sol Niger Within. What a song, I wanted to nominate it but I don't remember there being too many Meshuggah guys here. Anyways, I really enjoyed Red As Blood, but it's not Raining Blood even if it's trying to pretend it is.
Greaaat. I hate how easy this is, because I really love Blind Guardian and I love ATTWS, but I'm going to swoon over The Odyssey with the rest of you. Yes it's flawless and awesome. I even got to rave about it to my friends because of the movie, so it gets even more points this year. ATTWS has some of the best sections in BG's discography, but the pacing is just not great. It definitely wasn't a song I loved instantly. And we also can't make a Blind Guardian album with a good mix in the 21st century.
Guilty of Love is cool in the beginning and has a very pleasant solo, Love Machine is decent glam and less my thing.

I've heard many a criticism of ye olde Manowar. All valid. I still like the motherfuckers and this song is good but it's apples an oranges. Headless Children is a fantastic song, a journey and a brain changer, the other is merely Damn Good. I'm listening to these songs right now, one by one and I can guarantee that Manowar is better than most of the rest. Let's see if that turns out to be true....
2nd round, I've never liked Slayer. Not even worthy of Big 6, let alone Big 4. Why people give a fuck about them is one of the biggest mysteries in music to me but here we go....
Actually quite liked Necrodeath. Raining Blood is one of the few Slayer songs I can vibe with but fuck em anyway, Necrodeath for the win.
Ok, next round. I kinda know who I'm voting for before listening. I actually like Blind Guardian and I've not vibed with any Symphony X I've ever heard but let's go....
Yep, 30secs in and Symphony X have annoyed me. I make zero apologies for turning it off. They've done it before and I refuse to let them do it again. Blind Guardian have annoyed me 10secs in but I know they will get me eventually....ah, 20secs in and there it is, boooosh, I love you Hansi, my King and my Qween. He takes me away every time. Easy vote.
Last round and I don't even have to listen to this particular Chez Kane song cos nothing I've heard before leads me to believe that even their best song can trump Wasps worst song. But here we go....
5secs into Kane and it's derivitive mediocre garbage. This won't get better.....
Ok, it gets catchy but it's the fluff in a playlist between Wasp and Def Leppard. Anything like this that wasn't done in the 80s just feels fake to me. Except The Darkness. I do like it but it ain't got shit on Love Machine, no ma'am. Ridiculous gulf in class here.
Imma listen to Symphony X again just to see if I see what you all see but I doubt it. Wasp v Chez Kane puzzles me though. Like, it's a metal classic vs modern generic pop capers, Chez Kane could almost be an AI version of 80s rock. Each to their own. But fuck you guys whoop whoop

Manowar has stupid and childish lyrics most of the time, but I'll will die on the hill that Eric Adams is arguably the greatest metal vocalist out there. I just adore his voice, no one else can do the falsetto screams with such power and aggression. The outro for example is insane. Blood Of My Enemies is one of their better and less silly songs, though I think there are quite a few better Manowar songs.
I get why The Headless Children was pitted against Manowar, but unfortunately that song doesn't do much for me. The first couple of minutes are just pure filler. The little organ lick is fun though. Once the vocals start the song improves, but overall it falls short in direct comparison. Easy win for Manowar. The 12/8 instrumental section was great though.
Raining Blood is an absolute classic. Not much to say there that hasn't been said a million times.
Red As Blood is pretty good. Never heard a Necrodeath song before. The vocals kinda surprised me, but I like them. That said, I have to go with the classic tune.
The synths in The Odyssey always remind me of PS2-era video game soundtracks. Something like Final Fantasy XII lol. The prog parts are nice, the vocal sections kinda boring. What annoys me a bit is that for the most part the song could've been about any other topic and you wouldn't have noticed a difference. The music sounds like (good) prog, but there's nothing tying it to Troy and Greece. Everyone's opinion is valid but y'all are completely crazy, this one doesn't come anywhere close to ATTWS.
Truth be told, ATTWS isn't even my favourite Blind Guardian song. It is the quintessential power metal song in my opinion though. When I think of the genre, this song is what's playing. It has all the features I wanna hear in a power metal song. Hansi and his army of backing vocals sound amazing.
It's important to listen to the original recording, the rerecording from 2012 botched some of the more fun and interesting details.
Btw, as one of the resident Greek Cunts (tm) I request that my vote for that matchup to count for 10 regular votes
At least this W.A.S.P. song doesn't have an unnecessarily long intro. It gives me a bit of KISS vibes, which isn't a bad thing. But it's also kinda forgettable to be honest.
Guilty Of Love on the other hand gives me synthwave vibes. It's kinda generic as well, the singer has a cool voice though. The transition to the chorus is kinda sloppy and keeps catching me off guard. Loved the solo. Not sure if this song needed to be this goddamn long though lol
The match up isn't that heavy on metal, but I'm not gonna gatekeep.

Curious to hear what annoyed in ATTWS? For The Odyssey I can imagine that the synth orchestra didn't work for you, but for the other one? Is it the wall of lead guitars?

Blackie Lawless is among my favourite vocalists in the entire Hard rock/Metal arena. Its a shame we don't have much Glam metal songs in the tournament, saying as a big fan of the sub-genre! The Headless Children is a vibe in itself, Blackie's signing shines through, the instrumentals sound so natural and organic. Love it. Wasn't that big after first listening to Blood Of My Enemies but after the recent listen, I will say, its decent.
Necrodeath is actually highly inspired by Slayer and the their influences on this song is obvious. Still, a fine Death-Thrash song. Really dig it's intensity. But on the other hand, we have Raining Blood (...from the lacerating sky!) an iconic song with a great atmosphere and cool main riff!
The 3rd match of this round has been probably the toughest for me in the tournament so far. The Odyssey starts in a grand fashion, then moves into acoustic filled playing before switching into the Metal territory. All the different parts feel coherent and have a good flow, considering I'm hardly into 20+ minutes songs. An additional advantage being, Michael Romeo's soloing being sprinkled here and there. Blind Guardian's song is utterly great as well. I would say it actually leans more on the heavier side of things, yet its tough to deny Symphony X's excellence. Still a great suggestion by @Vaenyr.
Again, love W.A.S.P., especially their self-titled debut. But the instrumentals have a rather laid back approach in L.O.V.E. Machine even though Lawless being again on fire. So in this match, I will give it to Chez Kane's Guilty Of Love. Cool song with a lengthy but, still an engaging instrumental. Actually the leads during the second half of the song reminds me of a Bollywood song due to having similar vibes. Do you guys notice it as well?
