Which of the presented bands was THE ULTIMATE ASS-KICKING UNIT IN THEIR HEYDAY?

Hello, Boys and Girls... sorry, Girls and Gals, and all you other hairy creatures who like to boast about going Balls to the Wall. To liven things up, annoy some of you, and give others some twiddling to do, I propose yet another highly important and spear-breaking poll.

Let the majority of worried citizens decide which of the presented bands was the best live band in the whole Solar System IN THEIR HEYDAY. I urge you all: try to be objective - which is impossible - and give your vote regardless of your personal preferences (or mine, for that matter).

We all dwell here on the Iron Maiden forum; we are fans of Pretty Maids - sorry, Iron Maiden - so the result may seem obvious. But for the sake of the greater good, I am addressing you all: don't be a vessel for evil, which, as we all know, is a deed done by men. Vote for which band was the best live band in their heyday.

Everything matters: the music, the visual aspect of the concert, the attitude, attendance, and how well the music from recorded LPs, tapes, CDs, etc. translates into a live setting.

In the comment section, ass-whooping and nut-kicking are allowed and welcomed. Let the majority decide.

As it already decided that Eric Adams is the ultimate voice of metal. Relax, I'm just being crazy. The highly respected and competent voting commission decided - as expected - that Bruce Dickinson has the best voice among the candidates presented in the previous poll. All hail Bruce, the Mighty Seer, The Revelationeer, The Power of the Mortal Slaves, and the creator and visionary behind the astonishing The Chemical Wedding lodge.

So, now it's time to choose the ultimate live band(s). Let's proceed at our own risk here. Good luck!

I picked Maiden, Metallica, and KISS. To me, the early days of those New Yorkers are very mysterious and attractive. My fourth band would be AC/DC - not that I like them very much or listen to them extensively, but in my mind, trying to be objective, those Australians ruled stadiums for the better part of their career.
 
@MindRuler, if it's not a secret, I would like to know which band you would choose as the best live band in their heyday, since you chose the "Other" option.
Queensrÿche? Accept? W.A.S.P.? Slayer? Megadeth? Dire Straits? Michael Jackson? Some other diamond in the rough? I am very curious.
I included mostly the biggest bands in this poll.
 
I went with Rush, Maiden and AC/DC. I’ve seen all three live, but as much as I enjoy Brian Johnson I would have LOVED to have seen Bon Scott.

It’s funny I saw three of these bands in one day during the Van Halen Monsters of Rock tour. Metallica rocked but the Scorpions stole the show. Van Halen by this point was meh and we joined the throngs of people who left before they finished up.

Maiden, Metallica and KISS.

Considering everything that matters (listed by Azas), Maiden are truly the best. It's not even bias.

Metallica still puts tight shows, so they deserve to be praised for that.

KISS shows are like ''THE rock show'', not only because of the stage performances, but also the energy and the interaction. Their success is due to their shows from the 70s.

Of course, there are other bands that deserve to be mentioned, but from the list, these 3 stand out.

What do you think about AC/DC? They put on giant stadium shows, even back in the day. Now they're already too old, but in their heyday? Their music translates very well live; it's easy to get into the groove and into fist-pumping mode.

I also chose KISS over them because of the whole imagery, personas, stage show, energy, even the attitude. But I think many of us sort of overlook AC/DC because their music is bare-bones rock 'n' roll, and we crave a little more theatricality or something.
 
I went with Maiden and Rush, although Metallica would have been my third vote if I thought of it. Maybe I’m just still buzzing from seeing Rush night before last but I also think there’s something to the way that Alex and Geddy are running around on stage locked into each other having a blast while Neil is fully locked in on giving the best performance of his career every night.

Queen and Van Halen are the only acts I haven't seen from the list. Maiden are the best. I'm a big Priest fan, but I don't think as a live act they are fit to be in this category with the rest of those bands. I saw Scorpions mop the floor with them during Halford's comeback tour for instance.

I'm surprised you had such an experience with Priest and the Scorps, though I agree that Priest are somewhat smaller than many of the others. But in their heyday, they were great live, at least I think so.

Edit: Also, @srfc, don't you think Metallica was a force majeure as a live act back in the day?
 
I haven't seen Metallica in their heyday*, only on their more recent tours, but yes they are excellent live. In their heyday there was a lot of shit like bass solos and kirk solos etc., and today the rob and kirk act that lose them points. It's telling that Metallica don't really have a classic live album, the fucked it by going for the boxset route with the original Live Shit release. Seattle is the best gig from that, could have been their Live and Dangerous if they'd released it as a stand alone show, although Hetfield shouting a load of curses at one stage would have dated it by now.

I think Priest are better now, then when I saw them with Glenn and KK, but again I only ever saw them after 2004

Hmm, I think watching a live video of the band performing in their heyday also counts. Somewhat. Even just watching a recording of a perfect performance and their ass-kicking showmanship can have an enormous impact on a young and fragile soul, haha.
