James Dean Bradfield - Even in Exile (2020)

Second solo album by the Manic Street Preachers' singer/guitarist, a concept album about the poet and activist Victor Jara, tortured and murdered in 1973 by Pinochet's fascist regime, with lyrics by the poet and playwright Patrick Jones (Nicky Wire's older brother). The album has a bit of everything: prog, folk, alternative rock... Very different to his first solo album but great nonetheless.

@The_7th_one You would probably enjoy this great piece about the album, including an interview with James Dean Bradfield:

I've read the interview and the review. It's a very complete review including videos. Liked me a lot . Thanks @GhostofCain

I remember that band. I liked this album- I remember the heavy Rock magazine rivalry Crom and Fuck Off (thrash metal oriented band) I think both bands recorded in Ibiza studio, the same one that Judas Proest recorded Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders of the Faith.
Sadly disbanded after this great album and I don't know why. Fuck Off released Hell on Hearth album later and another band from Barcelona: Legion. Heavy Rock bet for this band. I think Crom's singer and bass player created another band later called Crossbones. I remember because I bought the demo in tape. That was all and I think he went to LA and he lives there since then.
I think Crom released their first album in 87 or 88 and they had a little bit success in Uk with that one.

Are you from spain?

I always laugh with this video. Rip Ozzy Osbourne btw. But the start and the whole song is crazy. He goes on stage dressed in like a carnaval costume or a japanise costume that last 1 minute. And then his voice fails a few times and he goes crazy with the mic put the mic, take the mic. I think the others are tommy aldrige jake e lee and dont know the other one.

Iron Savior - Back From The Fires Of Hell

New single. The chorus is typical power metal, but the rest of the song is quite solid (verses and instrumental section, good guitar sound). I love the main/intro riff, heavy and melodic (pure metal) never gets old.

Btw, the album cover with its colors and theme works well.

Excellent memory, my friend!

I was too young to experience Crom live in the 80s, but one of the first shows I went to in the early 90s had Crossbones playing. Great band(s)!

Luis Gadea does indeed live in the USA, but Crom have recently reunited to record some songs that were written for what would have been theif third album.

Hmm, the album is lively enough for me, but it may be lacking some stronger ideas. The attitude is definitely there - that's good - but there are no monster hits musically. For me, it's a 7/10 or 7.5/10.
No,there is no song that you can say its great. Maybe one of the last or the last apart from ride the lightning.
