He has never moved a lot. Just walking around even in 80s and 90s. So its not that different.

The guitars sound different to me. Less "metalic distortion" and is simple there are 2 different guys playing. I saw judas in 2005 and 2009 i think kkdowning and glenn were there for sure.

The Andy Sneap mixed stream is tuned in post. It is thus not "live auto tuned". Neatly and subtly tuned, but evident if you have an ear for it. Can't say I've spotted anything out of the PA.

Neither did Phil of Wings of Pegagsus. The lines here are neither tuned, or backing tracks. But yeah, as I said, there is backing track support behind the lead vocal at times.

In all guns blazing there was a huge difference between when he is singing without music and after. Im talking about how clear and powerfull sounded. Maybe is not a tape and is him but who knows. Apart from that i dont see anyhing weird like with wasp that they used many backing parts.

Pretty sure the intro to All Guns Blazing is a live lead vocal with additional vocal tracks mixed about the same level, to fatten it up and the package is then topped off with a cloud of reverb and delay. That's how I remember it.

Yup, exactly.

I've seen 2 Faithkeepers shows. I'm still thinking about going to another one, but this is an unlikely scenario, sadly.

Anyway, I got to see how his voice changes throughout the early weeks of the tour. It wasn't the first time for me, but it's always a nice thing to experience, if you're interested in the details.

I was worried at first because the opening night was... Rough, to say the least. Painkiller was absolutely butchered by Halford. Panic Attack was terrible. Even Lightning Strike sounded below average. But a few days later the performance was much better, and I was really happy with what I heard. And after that my second show was even more satisfying because he figured out how to sing the songs included in the setlist.

If playback was being used, there'd be no progress. He'd start the tour and end it singing the songs in the very same style. There'd be no or very few changes in what he's doing. But if you compare the BOBfest (the first Faithkeepers date) performance to, let's say, the video from Warsaw posted here, or any other recent show, you'll easily notice the difference.

It seems to me that, starting with the show in Ostrava, Rob has found a certain consistency, and the upcoming concerts will likely be performed at a similar level.

Yeah, I just checked it out. It's a diminished performance for sure, though typical of modern Halford. First round of shows are a bit rough, then significant improvement, and then often a declining curve towards the end of the tour, if it's a long tour that is.
 
Btw could we argue about what is the best live cd. For me by far is judas priest meltdown 1998. Its sad that the best live is with ripper owens wich is one amazing singet btw,love him. But i think there is no a good live with rob,maybe the best is rising in the east. But i think this band needs a box of live songs from all eras specially 85-90 in 1990 halford was great.

Wtf, there are loads of them. The original Turbo concert cd, and the Kemper Arena gig from the anniversary cd. The 1984 Long Beach gig from the Defenders 30th anniversary triple cd set. The 1988 gig - officially a live album since it and others were released and remixed as part of a career encompassing boxset.

Dont know i listened to atlatanta 82 unleash in the east london 2002 the battlecry rising in the east meltdown 1998. I dont find that much. Any from the painkiller tour?
 
New Haven 1988 is their best live release. Before hearing the 1988 stuff, especially a bootleg from Miami, I didn't know that a human being could do such insane things with their voice. Rob sounded inhuman on the Mercenaries of Metal Tour.

It's another (big) mistake that so many good Priest shows aren't available through regular distribution channels. New Haven '88, Irvine '91... Atlanta '82 is good, but it's pretty much Memphis '82/Live Vengeance all over again. But well... When was the last time they released Live Vengeance? And they've never even released an audio version of the show.

A short pro shot from Wacken 2026 can be found online and an audio version of it is on YT now, but will there be a full video like in 2025? Nobody knows that. They should seriously reconsider their approach to stuff like that.
 
Alright I was wrong on two counts, firstly, watching some songs from Tilburg, Rob is definitely better than the some bits I have seen online recently. Even the seeeentI-NEL! Maybe my selection was unlucky before.

Second thing I was wrong about is that they will play in the NL at the end of this year, so I fucking missed that. I believe I confused that with Muse's date.
Oh well, we had the eclipse and the fun beach evening...
