Change some of the Maiden setlists

Joining in on the RFYL remodelling

1. Murders in the Rue Morgue
2. Purgatory
3. Wrathchild
4. Killers
5. Phantom of the Opera
6. Transylvania
7. Two Minutes to Midnight
8. Powerslave
9. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
10. Infinite Dreams
11. The Clairvoyant
12. Bring Your Daughter . . . to the Slaughter
13. Fear of the Dark
14. Iron Maiden

15. The Number of the Beast
16. Run to the Hills
17. Hallowed be thy Name

After much seething over the absence of a certain song, it occurred to me that the existing setlist is actually not too bad. Furthermore, it also struck me as a bit of a "best of the history tours package" for an even younger generation (given that the Early Days tour was 20 years ago). As such, I remodelled it along loose chronological lines, segueing from Early Days to SBIT/LAD to Maiden England in three distinct sections, with the basic NOTB stuff confined to the encore (and Hallowed never fails as a closer).

I deliberately gave more time to the earlier content, based on Simon Dawson's apparent Clive-yness (and the Early Days tour being the oldest). From this, I added a song off each Dianno album at the expense of the Wasted Years and Aces High - Transylvania is instantly recognisable depite not being played live since the 90s, and Purgatory is an indulgent deep cut (one of my favourites off Killers).

The inverse of this is a comparatively smaller showing for the Maiden England content (being the most recent history tour); Clairvoyant stays, but with all the runtime Seventh Son had to go (and besides Infinite Dreams is my all-time favourite). The 6 minutes saved would do Bruce and the boys some good at their age.

What do we think?

Edit - subbed out Trooper for Bring Your Daughter. Figured NPFTD needed some love

Edit: changed my mind

I had to do that. The current setlist is almost perfect.
1. Prowler
2. Wrathchild
3. Killers
4. Phantom of the Opera
5. Run to the Hills
6. Revelations
7. Powerslave
8. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
9. Still Life
10. The Number of the Beast
11. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
12. The Clairvoyant
13. Hallowed be thy Name
14. Iron Maiden
encore
15. The Trooper
16. Fear of the Dark
17. Wasted Years
Piece of Mind isn't represented properly and I tried to fix that. I also much prefer Prowler to Murders and I think it should open this tour in particular. I didn't include Infinite Dreams even though I'd like to hear it live.
I made a few changes also to fix the flow of the set. I've put RTTH earlier so that it'd be easier for Bruce and I've put Clairvoyant together with 7th Son.

RFYL 2.0:

1. Murders In The Rue Morgue
2. Killers
3. Remember Tomorrow
4. NOTB
5. Tailgunner
6. The Trooper
7. Infinite Dreams
8. Powerslave
9. 2 Minutes to Midnight
10. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
11. Seventh Son
12. Wasted Years
13. Hallowed Be Thy Name
14. Iron Maiden
---------------------------------
15. Fear of the Dark
16. Phantom of the Opera
17. Run To The Hills

I try something different: improving both Somewhere On Tour and 7th Tour of A 7th Tour by one simple change: swapping places of Children of the Damned and The Prisoner. They both would fit thematically better after switch in my view.

Because a suggestion of a song placement swap for Run For Your Lives in the tour thread worked for my brain, I wanted to re-organize LotB 2.0 to see how it looked. Knowing three songs had to be scrapped to make place for the Senjutsu stuff, I've got...

Legacy of the Beast 2.0... 2.1?
1. Senjutsu
2. Stratego
3. The Writing on the Wall
4. Aces High
5. Where Eagles Dare
6. The Clansman
7. The Trooper
8. Revelations
9. Sign of the Cross
10. Flight of Icarus
11. Fear of the Dark
12. The Number of the Beast
13. Iron Maiden
======================
14. The Evil That Men Do
15. Hallowed Be Thy Name
16. Run to the Hills

An alternate world where Maiden did a World Slavery Tour/Seventh Tour revisit as one tour instead of doing the Maiden England Tour separately later.

SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME WORLD TOUR

INTRO: Churchill's Speech

1. Aces High
2. 2 Minutes to Midnight

3. The Prisoner
4. The Evil That Men Do
5. Infinite Dreams

6. The Trooper
7. Still Life

8. Wasted Years
9. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
10. Powerslave

11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Can I Play With Madness
13. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

14. The Number of the Beast
15. Iron Maiden

ENCORE
16. The Clairvoyant
17. Children of the Damned
18. Hallowed Be Thy Name

Funnily enough, according to lore the original plan was apparently to cover both eras with the 2008 tour, with the Maiden England re-release dropping in 2009. I guess the success of the 2008 tour made them reconsider, with the 2009 setlist changes seemingly being more indicative of a tighter focus on powerslave.

Anyway, despite my immense workload, I figure I'd start a new thing on here. Widget proudly presents:

Brave New World Tour 2000-02

Intro: Arthur's Farewell
1- The Wicker Man
2- Ghost of the Navigator
3- Brave New World
4- Two Minutes to Midnight
5- Blood Brothers
6- The Fallen Angel
7- The Trooper
8- Sign of the Cross
9- Out of the Silent Planet
10- Dream of Mirrors
11- The Clansman (shoulda done a William Wallace walk-on Eddie, just saying_
12- The Evil That Men Do
13- Fear of the Dark
14- Iron Maiden (with wicker man Eddie)

15- The Number of the Beast
16- Hallowed be thy Name
17- Run to the Hills

Starting nice and easy with this one. Not too many changes, because as we all know from Rock in Rio this setlist was pretty awesome as is. Inspired by the other 2001 dates, I felt I had to include OOTSP and Fallen Angel - one of which was the other single, the other a bitchin' album cut. The Mercenary was the unfortunate victim of this - I just don't like it as much as the other two. Other than that I just moved some songs around - Trooper always seemed a little late in the set on this one for some reason (also Sanctuary got the boot for being boring).

I’m all over this, but I would miss BB and SOTC back to back.

The Mercenary is a low effort filler on the album, but sounds truly amazing on Rock in Rio. It's probably the least weak candidate as sacrificial lamb if I were to touch Rock in Rio's setlist, but it's really a hard choice because there's not a false note in the whole concert. Amazing performance by everyone.

On the other hand, they did both Silent Planet and Fallen Angel, and neither sounded an inch better than absolute shit.

They should have given The Thin Line Between Love and Hate a shot, though.

Welcome back to the next edition of Changing all of the 21st century tour setlists, based entirely on my own vibes and prejudices:

Death on the Road 2004

Intro: Dance of the Knights
1. Wildest Dreams
2. Montsegur
3. Die With your Boots On

4. No More Lies
5. The Trooper
6. Revelations
7. Dance of Death
8. Lord of the Flies
9. Rainmaker
10. Passchendaele
11. Fear of the Dark
12. Hallowed be thy Name
13. Iron Maiden

14. The Number of the Beast
15. The Clairvoyant
16. Run to the Hills

The observant amongst you will have noticed I skipped Give Me 'Ed. I did think about doing that one, but ultimately it was such a wild and left-field setlist that it's almost not worth trying to "improve" it with conventional logic - it's perfect just the way it is.

Now, regarding the album tour that followed it, I've made rather more changes: firstly, in terms of album representation, I've swapped Journeyman for Montsegur - I've never really loved the former track, whereas the latter is one of the great post-2000 Maiden unicorns (and the stage set is a castle, for crying out loud). For other songs, GMETID provided a good pool of songs to make swaps, the aim being to make the setlist more varied and more distinct from BNW. With that in mind, subbing CIPWM for Clairvoyant is a straight upgrade (and fits the theme better), DWYBO is a cool 2003 carry-over, and Revelations is a great song that really meshes with the Dracula's castle stage set vibe.

This song list kicks arse I would love to see this.

Especially all 4 songs in bold font but also DoD and Rainmaker? Brilliant.

Almost 100% agreed. Yet, instead of Sanctuary, I'd ditch Dream Of Mirrors. Other than that, love it.
