18th Studio Album discussion

Dave is always meant to be more reluctant to tour than the rest of them. Jan spends his time watching Hartlepool so i imagine he will be keen to keep going
.. would still like to hear Daves solo album now.

The RFYL 2026 is longer than Future Past 2024. It is much longer than Future Past 2023. It is the longest run of Maiden dates since Legacy 2022. Through no fault of his own, Nicko's health was limiting their touring I guess.

Steve, Bruce and even Adrian seem energetic enough for more musical activity in their annual calendar. Janick seems fine with it, like a good soldier. Dave is the question mark but it seems speculation rather than anything he has actually been recorded as saying about wanting to tour less.

So why not a new album in 2027? Record and release in the same year, making a six year gap since Senjutsu. Give them a break from the road and tour it in 2028.

IMO Maiden will keep touring as long as Steve (mainly) and Bruce are willing and able to perform. At this point, they are the only irreplaceable members of the band. I don't like to see any of the 3 amigos replaced, but I think if Dave or Adrian retires before the band call it quits, Steve will get a replacement and continue touring. I believe Janick will be there till the last minute, as he seems to be the most energetic of the 3 (or maybe the most energetic of the whole band).

As for the new album, I strongly believe we will get it in 2028, if not late 2027.

Since Bruce has already stated that 2027 will see the release of a new solo album, I'm not sure they will fit a Maiden album in there as well (along with promo and other stuff). 2027 is probably clear in the band calendar but I'm sure Steve will work with the live stuff from Paris.

You have a point there. I forgot about the live album...Hopefully they will record album #18 in 2027 and release in 2028. Even with all the solo/side projects and a live album release in 2027; I don't think it is hard to find a 6-8 week gap in 52 weeks to record a new album.

One more album maximum is all we are getting if any i think. A tour to support it and then maybe a final hits tour. If no new album likely a final hits tour only in 2028 onwards if everyone in the band is fit and well.
As discussed above the Maiden setlist is way more demanding then many of the bands/artists still going in their 70`s and beyond. Look at the stick Bruce gets on here for Aces High. He is a legend but how many songs from up to 50 years ago can he reasonable sing to a high standard in years to come.
One more album is our hope, I doubt about Steve's thought for semi-retirement but still releasing new music. Bruce is still a beast. It would be ironic for them to do a final Hits tour after a year-long break with songs from all eras after replacing Nicko and doing the RFYL set.

We don't know that with certain.

Yeah, TBOS-cycle release and tour is possible. There is a reason/s for the year long break.

I do think they (Steve, Bruce, Adrian, Simon... can't know about Janick) will want to continue as long as possible, like the other old bands, but replacing more members would be wrong and not something I expect. If they don't have desire for new music, they will retire.
..and even more importantly, please bring back Kevin Shirley.
This, their decisions regarding productions are hard to understand.
Saxon have a new album out this year and Biff is 75 years old. Wish Maiden were as prolific as them with albums.
Good example, but Maiden don't even need to be that prolific, just 3-5 years, at most.

Bruce will probably release his solo album in March 2027, so he has 3 months at the beginning of the year to record with Maiden (after the tour and before the rehearsals for his own - he did something similar in 2022). I doubt Adrian (he said they could release and tour with SK in 2027, but let's see) and Steve will have some solo works then, they could write and record some stuff for their solo bands, but I guess their process is not strict like Maiden.
Considering the promo for SJ, it won't be that much, especially if they come up with hints stuff again. Bruce's tour will be long, but he could do Maiden promo before the release in the fall, it would be more fitting than writing, release, promo and tour in the summer from early 2028, right.

edit: the future is more uncertain than ever now (although they said they will continue), but I still don't think you make a lineup change after so many years to retire a couple of years later.

Your argument would work if the calendar said 2016 and everything was working like the cogs in a machine but we have just entered 2026 and the future of Maiden is very unclear. In my head, it's more likely they call it a day than record a new album and go out on a regular album tour. Not after Nicko, not after the 50 year anniversary celebration with RFYL, not after the hesitation or reluctance from Steve. For the first time in their career, I don't think they have any plans or even had THE TALK on what lies beyond RFYL.

My fear is that British Lion / Mandrake lineup Bruce solo are viable distractions from having THE TALK for the principal players. I also fear that the emotional impact of Nickos retirement on the wider unit has been skipped over.

We have the documentary to come which doesnt seem to of been mentioned for a while? I doubt anything will happen until 2028 as 2027 seems to be a complete break from maiden. Diannos documentary is due out quite soon as well i believe.
