They both need each other, but Steve wasn't that sure about Bruce's return, he said that. And if Bruce's solo albums were more commercially successful. But what, another new singer, breaking up. Adrian wanted a solo career along with Maiden, Bruce now yes, but back then he was the star. All in all, I think Bruce's solo career would have been more successful than in the 90s, with the right promo, touring and amount of albums. He wants his solo career to be successful and liked (that's why is important to release another album sooner now), not sure who needed who most. I guess Bruce. Plus he already had the wanted artistic freedom, a different period in time in terms of everything. Maiden with Blaze would have been on a slightly bigger level.

This, 6 or even more solo albums (with Adrian in the band, right, he would have continued with him), the tours wouldn't have been big like Maiden's.

Is this the Part 2 of the Metal Hammer interview? I thought it would about all solo albums. The curious bits:

  • Bruce said he felt creatively lost when left Maiden, he needed to leave to understand if he could give more to the music world. You don't get that in Maiden, it's gotta shape in a direction. He didn't know him leaving Maiden would be so sad for many fans of the band.
  • he said Maiden had a creative explosion with BNW, it really was a brave new world for them. He went all in. Everything he learned all went into use. If he stayed, he's not sure if the band would be as big as now. He also added that as long as Steve wants to tour, Maiden still be going.
  • he mentioned his solo career wasn't a failure, it was doing ok, as a way to continue it. AOB paved the way for TCW. Tears Of The Dragon deserves the orchestration, it's magnificent for him.
  • he thinks Maiden are more innovative since BNW as they go through. He is comfortable with Maiden's writing approach now, the amazing theatricality and the songs being more proggressive, which doesn't make some people happy, but it makes the band happy. They've moved away from 4-minutes fast songs to 12-minute songs with light, shade, drama.
^That's a key thing for them, right.

Love to see Brave new world has a important place in iron maiden history. For me as good as the albums from 80s. And the best iron maiden album sound since reunion.

I think at the time he was permanently high from being back in Maiden. The struggle of his solo career was lifted. Back in the saddle, back in the spotlight of greatness and fame. He was like, “Yes, of course. It’s a bloody great idea!” all the time.
I’m pretty sure Bruce said, “That’s one of our very best cover artworks,” when Steve showed him the final version of the Dance of Death album cover.
 
It’s all doom and gloom—except for one beam of light: Bruce is going to start recording his new solo album very soon, in January. That’s great. But the other part of the news is doom and gloom again: he plans to release the album only in 2027. What a letdown.

That's pretty standard, though, with his level of marketing + working around Maiden's schedule. Record in January, mix February/March, master and finalize plans April/May - then start the promotion cycle while working around his many Maiden tours.
 
Because we want to hear new music from our heroes. And so far, that hope rests only with Bruce, because—if I remember correctly—Maiden haven’t released a new album since 2021 and, according to Steve, don’t seem eager to do so. Are we not allowed to feel a bit of dissatisfaction about that, or is it strictly prohibited to have a varied spectrum of emotions here? Are only rainbows, unicorns, and sunshine allowed?

Also, my post was written somewhat tongue-in-cheek, though I understand that this may not be immediately obvious on the surface.

Yep. I really want them to work on the songs as much as possible. With 2 guitars, it's time for noticeable and longer instrumentals/parts again (TCW, more metal), not unfinished songs (I think Philip and Chris are inspired, not to mention Mistheria, so no worries). Bruce probably won't do many takes of his vocals. And I also hope Dave's drumming to be inspiring, more interesting and with a better sound. Tanya can add some cool bass lines. It will be an important album. I expect a great album from a great band.

It seems like there were 2 concentrated writing sessions, but that doesn't mean additional work can't be done on the songs, individually, right. On the demos, before the recordings. I also want Bruce to reuse or rewrite some of his old ideas, especially if all the new music is written by both guitarists.

The forum would be dead if people become reluctant to post critical stuff. It wouldn't be a real collection of the feelings and opinions that are out there anymore.
 
I want to clarify that @srfc is perfectly entitled to express his frustration in response to mine. I don’t want to censor that in any way, nor am I the judge here. It’s all fine by me—just a ping-pong of opinions.

The band is not like adrian and roy z tandem and bruce on his top form but is a bruce dickinson album and always has good songs sometimes less but a few like the last one.
