Yes there is. I don't think those old Roland systems would fit under a pickguard, plus there is that dreaded 21-pin connector that kinda needs to be on the side of the guitar. And since the whole brain of the guitar is probably on a PCB, it's impossible to do a different arrangement of the controls. And also, because of that, the guitar volume and 5 way were installed behind the bridge.

If you have an AS Jackson signature, you'll need to route, as the factory route is HSS.

I think he had Jackson humbuckers on the original guitar. Quite high output and they were popular in late 80's.
 
I went with DiMarzio SD and PAF, when I did mine. On the assumption that was standard for their guitars at the time. No idea if that's actually accurate.

For mine, I bought an HSH charvel body and managed to find an Adrian signature neck.

I'm pretty sure they were Jackson pickups. I kinda assume those were in Dave's Burgundy/CAR Jackson too and that made him switch to Duncans later on.

The one problems if its Jackson pickups is that you can only buy them second hand from people who have removed them from Jackson Guitars. I could be completely wrong but that is how it is in Australia. With the routing it shouldn't be a problem that can't be solved in an hour or 2.

Unless you go for the early 00's specs. That version has a DiMarzio Super Distortion in bridge

Not going to argue with you, you seem to be the guru here on this topic

But I will just say that the SD/ PAF combo sound perfect through my JMP1/ Lexicon rig

Yeah SD is also a ceramic high-output magnet, so there shouldn't be a lot of difference. Neck pickup was only ever used by Adrian on the beginning of Infinite Dreams so, there is not a lot of examples of that.

Bridge pickup was switched to a white Super Distortion in the late 90s anyway.

Thanks for the reply. Even though I've been playing guitar for 35 years, I'm still learning about these things

Infinite Dreams is a favourite. I should definitely try that intro on the neck pickup

OMG, what a cool lineup. I've always wished they made Janick's signature... 1749 euros is a bit much for a Mexican-made guitar, though. Damn, I really want one.
 
It's a little annoying that fender keep getting the details on the signature bass wrong.

Blue bass had the wrong logo and a tinted neck.
White bass had wrong bridge.
New black one has wrong logo again.

(And for all the pickguard looks great, steve harris has never had a 10 hole pickguard. Always 13 hole but with the extra screw in the centre, or sometimes the holes for the thumbrest under the strings... but that's just a tiny issue really)

Other than that... give me a blue one but with the neck from a white one and ill be happy...

The bridge on the white one was wrong, because of the unavailibility of Badass bridges. Similar story happened with Geddy Lee signature Jazz. Fender produced their version of a hi-mass bridge.
 
Apparently the Janick model is Fender's "web exclusive" and they only take orders from a few countries in Europe. That's super lame...
