Swallow the Sun is this round's biggest mover, jumping up three places to sit comfortably beneath A7X. Everything else remains static, Iron Maiden and DT are tied for vote share and it seems to me that a lot of these albums have hit a ceiling of support. Normally I would say two more rounds but if nothing changes we might wrap this one up early.

Enemies of Reality is in good company here with DoD, The Link and Tribe. Most fans probably have it in the bottom 3 of Nevermore albums. It was in mine too, but out of all of their albums, it's the one that grew on me most. I love its manic sound, with the weird vocal harmonies. Seed Awakening is probably their most intense song, and Tomorrow Turned Into Yesterday is my favourite "ballad" of theirs, and that's a very high bar. My second pick would have been Accelerated Evolution (Suicide FTW (do not take this out of context)) so I'm even happier I went with Enemies.

This will be the final round for 2003! Moderate movement here, Sonata Arctica and Devin Townsend both jumped up a couple spaces and Children of Bodom went up a space.

We have our first ranking where the top seeded album didn't finish first! On one hand, I'm not surprised that Dance of Death was the album to fall, but I'm also somewhat surprised that a Maiden album didn't finish first. I'm curious if this will happen again, although I feel on this forum that Dream Theater is one of the few bands that could topple Maiden and even then it was really close despite Train of Thought being one of DT's more popular albums against one of Maiden's least popular albums.

The biggest winners were Anthrax, Children of Bodom, Avenged Sevenfold, and Devin Townsend. Wait a second, is this still Maidenfans? In all seriousness, I actually really liked the Children of Bodom album! They're a band I always avoided for a variety of reasons, but having listened to the vast majority of albums on the list, as many as I possibly could, Hate Crew Deathroll was one of the most unique albums in an otherwise kinda bland year. I also maintain that A7X, similarly, despite the serious incongruence with this forum's general tastes, were one of the more unique/interesting bands to come out of that scene and I think of Waking the Fallen as a diamond in the rough. Honestly, I didn't think they had any chance of doing anything in this game and I'm curious how the more Maiden-inspired followup, City of Evil, performs in 2005 (I expect not well, but we'll see!). Devin Townsend has a respectable performance and expected given a few superfans on here.

The biggest losers are Human Fortress, Moonspell, and Live. If @chaosapiant would vote in these, maybe Moonspell would have had a chance. I'm not sure that there are any huge surprises here, Human Fortress almost seemed like it might hold on a bit but ultimately I think this would have performed better in a Cheesevivor. Live and Queensryche seemed to get punished for leaning a little too much into the alt-rock (dare I say Butt Rock?) side of the spectrum.

We’ll see what the competition looks like for future years, but I can see a Maiden album losing out from the top spot again. The fan base is pretty divided on the reunion albums going forward except for AMOLAD.

I don’t think any other Dream Theater album is going to take a top spot, though.

Instrumentally, A7X are really the last massively popular band to retain a true fondness for old school metal. Sonically, they carry a ton of the same DNA of the greats that came before them. It’s a real shame that their vocalist (beginning with City of Evil) is absurdly annoying and cringey.

Ironically, Waking the Fallen is the only album by A7X I enjoy despite its obvious place within the metalcore sound. I adore Waking The Fallen.

I just missed the poll. You can definitely slide a +1 under The Antidote and credit it to Chaosplants.

For the last 3 albums, there is a chance, yes. For me, there is a competition only for TFF.
