RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Why do they keep that in the set when Bruce can’t sing it anymore? Infinite Dreams or their only #1 single Bring Your Daughter would work way better.
His performance varies but the crowd love it and sing most of it with him anyway. I would have taken Infinite Dreams but not BYDTTS.

Although I enjoyed the London show, I am glad I only got tickets for one concert on this tour (especially considering the price!).

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed seeing them play their biggest UK headline show that was not a festival, but the setlist was very reminiscent of previous (and, dare I say it, better) tours: 12 of the same songs were played on the SBIT tour in 2008 (13 in 2009), 11 on the Maiden England tour in 2012-2013… The pacing and flow of the setlist were issues too (the crowd only really erupted from TNOTB onwards, ROTAM and SSOASS were played too close in the setlist), and the least we say about Aces High (the aces struggled to take off) the better.

It was nice to see some of those oldies live again (Powerslave in particular) and some of the screen animations were good, but I cannot help but feel that I have seen them on much better tours.

It is what it is, though, and if this ends up being my final Maiden show, it would be a good ending.
At least they haven`t used dynamic pricing yet. They are still cheaper by and large to see than some of the other artists followed in our family, Madonna, Taylor Swift, Drake, Oasis.

To be fair, if they played The Angel And The Gambler for 1 hour, with a good dose of Invaders, Quest For Fire, The Apparition and Weekend Warrior, I'm sure most people complaining about this (obviously very exaggerated and unrealistic setlist to prove a point) would find "enjoy the moment" to ring somewhat hollow :P

Well, playing the same song over and over is about as realistic as Steve singing Hallelujah in falsetto dressed in a minister's robe, which is so outrageous an argument that you can't even prove a point with it. :smartarse:

Though I would love to see a setlist with Angel, Invaders, Quest and Weekend Warrior. That would be cool.

Enjoy when you still can is quite poor argument ;-)
Poor argument for what?
No, it really isn't. This could very well be it. Enjoy the moment, because it may be your last gig. We should be happy they are touring this cycle at all, let alone bringing in some killer and epic songs. "More wants More", is however, a bit of a poor argument.
Correct, if you can`t enjoy your favourite band still putting on a show like this after 50 years then i doubt you`d ever be happy.

There's room for nuance in my opinion. I've never been the biggest fan of Rime and I'd lie if the thought of "I'd rather hear something else" didn't cross my mind multiple times during the show while I was listening to it.

People can have different tastes. I vastly prefer the 90s and reunion to the 80s for example (minus SSOASS, which is a masterpiece).

Not saying people should bitch and rant about everything the whole time obviously, but I don't think telling them to just move on and accept something they're unhappy with is going to be met with enthusiasm by most.

Edit: I'm not feeling to strongly about this topic, so I'll leave it at that, no worries :D
It was more of a devil's advocate position for the sake of fairness to the "other side", for lack of a better term.

We should make a topic about the worst setlist they could made.

There already are :D

Terrible setlist
Worst Maiden setlist ever

Damn, my "Terrible setlist" from 2021 got a bit close to reality with Iron Maiden & the game Eddie on screens... :D

Intro: Transylvania & The Legacy of the Beast game trailer

1. The Number of the Beast
2. Wrathchild
3. New Beer Announcement
4. The Trooper
5. Parents having sex joke 2016-17 revisited
6. Children of the Damned intro
7. Bruce halts the performance and starts ranting after seeing some dumbass fan doing something stupid in the crowd. They don't bother to start the song over again and move on to the next one:
8. Run to the Hills
9. "Song about Greece" + ATG tease
-> 10. Fligh of Icarus intro
11. ...Bruce's flamethrower breaks down. He starts mumbling something about it, which eventually evolves into some story slightly related to his book. Bruce's story taking too long, the song is skipped altogether
12. Fear of the Dark
13. Iron Maiden (instead of an onstage big-Eddie making an appearance, a new LOTB game Eddie is revealed in the screens!)

14. Charlotte the Harlot a cappella
15. Another New Beer Announcement
16. Thank you and good night!

Totally agree that people have a different taste or viewpoint , that`s an issue with a band with such a back catalogue, how do you please everyone. I loved Rime but would have done without SSOASS personally, it killed the momentum.

I aren`t telling people to enjoy what they don`t like but there is a lot of glass half empty on here. I did like it and do personally think we should embrace it while it lasts and somebody telling me that isn`t a valid argument doesn`t thrill me either.

For the record it wasn`t as good as legacy 2018 but not far off with the screens. They are all older, one key member retired from touring due to health issues and a pandemic since then that could have easily seen them pack in if they wished. I will take what i saw live this year any day over them stopping which is the likely alternative in the coming years.

Wouldn`t it be nice to come on here and celebrate Iron Maiden at 50 years of age for a change instead of knocking so much, that`s not aimed at you by the way, just generally as a forum.

Well, I remember that much loved Legacy of the Beast setlist had also complaints from forum members. FTGGOG going down like wet fart in 2 man submarine - not suitable for casual fans. Encore of Evil, Hallowed and Hills being lazy and boring (or actually whole setlist starting from Fear of the Dark to Run to the Hills very disappointing). Why they played 2 minutes to Midnight and didn't play Be Quick or be Dead, Alexander, why no more rarities etc. Why they messed up Sign of the Cross, Bruce not being on time etc. Cool stage but in reality it's still the same box shape stage.

So, no matter what the setlist or stage people will always complain. Oh, I want them to do epics setlist but why are they doing it, it is so poorly balanced setlist. Play deep cuts, but again festival crowd doesn't know these songs, why aren't they playing hits and so on and so on.

Never happy, never satisfied.

Its almost the same combo of arguments since a matter tour (the time i started to visit IM forums).

This is the greatest post that has ever been made on this website. Some people simply do not want to be happy that their favourite band is still playing in 2025 when everyone feared the band was going to disintegrate in 1998.

Actually it is. It can be paraphrase as "take whatever it will be, even if it's below expectations because it may be the last time", which is by the way, argument that I see on this forum since ~2015. People have own opinions, taste etc. and while it is awesome that Iron Maiden is still playing it doesn't equal to everything they are doing must have 100% positive opinions from fans because it may be the last time.

People have own opinions, taste etc.
Now that is true, though it so happens that these opinions and taste very often convert into a whinefest because Maiden don't cater to one's personal preferences, or become the focal point of all discussions. Detail orientation sometimes gets in the way of ones own enjoyment. It is very fair to suggest that people should shift focus from the "the glass is half-empty" all the time to the "the glass is half-full" perspective. The latter is generally regarded as a better way to enjoy life and at the very least leads to more positive experiences.

The fact that we are at the precipice of all of our Metal heroes going into retirement and leaving us without them is certainly an argument for "enjoy the damn moment". Who am I going to go and see in 10 years? Ghost and Sabaton will be one of the few high-profile artists I may still want to go and see.
