RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Re future tour themes, Maiden has so many songs they could easily do a Part ll of this current tour featuring different songs if they chose to and it would still qualify for the era. They have an embarrassment of riches in terms of great songs.

That's definitely true. The could play a set entirely consisting of the 90s albums and the hardcore fans would show up.
The issue with such an endeavor is that it's more difficult to get casual fans to fill the venues. They are required to fill the huge arenas/stadiums/whatever. They are also the ones who will be disappointed if they don't get to hear TNOTB, RTTH and so on.

So, theoretically there are a ton of interesting setlists possible. Putting those into practice is a different matter though.

I'm sorry but have you ever listened to SSOASS studio version? haha!

In all fairness it's likely the middle section has extended out a bit live purely out of them not really knowing when to come back in .. But the studio version does have 2.5 minutes roughly of it
It’s not a matter of not knowing when to come in, they do it the same way every night, and did it the same way every night on the 2012-14 tour as well.

For my own amusement I just ran the studio version and 2025 live arrangement simultaneously to see exactly where it’s longer.

It’s thirty seconds of clicky clacky bass before Bruce comes in with the spoken word thing on the album and sixty seconds live.

Then after Bruce does the spoken word bit and before the next section of the song kicks in it’s around 45 seconds on the album and a minute and a half live.

Rest of the song is identical to the album version.

So they’ve doubled the length of two sections of the middle section. Maybe to spotlight Kenny in his Phantom of the Opera getup on the 12-14 tour?

Live version is a tiny bit faster than the studio. Maybe five percent.

Occam's Razor - They probably just want a bit of a breather.

I think Steve is just a bit loose with the time signature more than anything, I think they play the same amount of repetitions as on the album it's just he might be adding more beats to some bars before changing chords.

Two questions:

1. Tell me why "Purgatory" didn't open this tour..? Listening to it now and wow. That song hits hard.

2. Did the band ever perform "The Ides Of March" live?
1, Because Steve (according with that interview…they play what they want. Don't what the fans expects. Anyway Killers is full of excellent tracks.
2. Never. They didn't play it in 81 and since then they use the tape. They're too lazy to play it. Or maybe there's a contract issue with Paul Samson. I don't know

They use Ides of March tape and later they also use the beginning of Murders on tape. Shame.

But it's the same when they play Aces High. They've never played the beginning. Another tape

I mean that doesn't sound that bad, honestly, but Bruce has changed over the years. He's trying to sound like Paul here, especially in the "please take me away" part
Oh yeah, didn't share that to make a point; just found it while surfing on YouTube.
