RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

This is a version of Aces that is acceptable for a live album, although it needs the high vocals. I feel Bruce could still do it a proper justice if it is an opener, which is wow. The video screen probably works best for it in the set. It seems the Glasgow show was one of the best of the tour. The band warmed up.

For gods sake what difference does that make. If he cant handle that pressure then he shouldnt be there.
You're missing my point - he is handling the pressure and doing extremely well. What I was implying is that, until a musician is put into a specific situation (in this case playing drums in a heavy metal sextet, one of the biggest bands on the planet, with a notoriously loyal fan base) you don't know how they're going to react. Maybe your drummer friends would fall completely apart in that situation - maybe they'd thrive and control the adrenaline and produce an amazing performance.

Even if he is handling the pressure well, it's still perfectly valid for audience members and fans to have criticisms of his playing style and interpretation of the songs - just like how some people prefer Clive over Nicko, Paul over Bruce, Dave/H over Jan, or vice versa - etc.

There goes the feedback, it howls through the speakers
Then comes the pitch that makes everyone crack
Out for the chorus, we’ve got to keep going
Hope we can finish before the crowd claps

Step to the mic stand but don’t change the tuning
Clear out the throat now, there’s no time to waste
Missing the key as we belt out the first line
Do a live album with old tracks disgraced

Wailing, gasping, croaking
Mumbling, shrieking, choking, doing it again!
Howling, cracking, screeching
Off-key, trembling, flailing

Screech, try to sing
Sing to try, miss the note
Won’t you screech, try to sing
Sing to try, Ace’s Low

It’s a good thing the video of the dog fight is so distracting, because vocally that’s dog shit.

Dog shit, really? Have you heard Live After Death? Or his performances from 2 weeks ago?

Anyway, I refer to my earlier comment.

And a final word to the armchair critics who have been slagging them off this whole tour, get off your lazy arses and go see them. The experience is completely different than watching it on a phone.

Of course! But the guy said that everyone he was with said Simon was lacklustre and subpar (paraphrasing) and that he is a lazy choice.

This. I have to say I don't enjoy logging onto Maidenfans as much as I used to. Maiden is by far my favorite band and though they are not perfect it's hard for me to be critical of them. I have my exceptions, of course (the 90's for one). Yes, they are past their prime but I think they still sound great all things considered. I accept them for where they are now (after 50 years, my God) and I'm not selfish or entitled enough to think they should all perform like they did in their heyday or they're "shit, lazy, etc"...

I agree, i thought the show was amazing, i loved it but it doesnt mean we cant have an opinion on aspects of it, critical or not. Its the whole point of art (puts my pretentious hat on)

It’s a shame to hear that you don’t like coming here as much anymore. I can be critical of the band. It’s because I hold them to high standards and sometimes I think they make some head scratching decisions.

However it does not stop me from enjoying their gigs and rocking out!

I think, weirdly, Maiden fans can be wildly over-critical compared to fans of other acts. But I've always felt like it was similar to a family dynamic... like you've got a brother who you love to bits but even though they record and release Virtual XI, you can look past it because of your history and all the good times.

And one takeaway from London which got me thinking about this online uber-critical relationship we have with everything these days... I was a little disappointed in the setlist at first, hoped for something really left field like Wasting Love. But in hindsight, the set was perfect. It worked so well in that massive London arena, you needed giant songs to fill that space.

Sometimes you need to stand in a massive boiling arena to get a sense of perspective
