RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

The worst of it all is the glare of those screens on the bald heads of ageing Maiden fans. My eyes!
Much is made of the average age of Maiden fans at gigs, but I think there's a load of younger people there, a lot of them towards the front too. Being a biggish name, Maiden also gets sightseers. People who probably aren't that interested but want to say they've seen a big name AND told all their mates about it instantly too. There's your guilty phone crowd. It makes small venue more niche band gigs so much more appealling to me.

Now if you want to see a genuinely ageing crowd, go to a Saxon gig. The original generation of fans will be there, in spite of multiple health conditions.

That's what I will be doing at Hammersmith Odeon in November, given that Dirkschneider will be supporting them (playing Balls to the Wall in its entirety!). At 49 years old I might feel like a spring chicken!

Stone Free festival 2017 with Rainbow headlining and The Sweet supporting.

There was a special place for fans to park their walking frames and a special 3 for 2 at oxygen shots at the bars. I was 50 at the time and felt like I was the youngest there.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not defending excessive use of phones and there are definitely moments where all the screens can be distracting. But if I had to choose between an outright ban or against it, I'd be against it.

That said, it's become quite common for bands to tell folks to pull out their phones and put on the flashlight for ballads and I actually really like the effect this creates. It's like the lighters of old, but less dangerous and on steroids. It's definitely an interesting feeling for an otherwise dark arena to be suddenly lit up brightly by all the phones. Guess it depends on one's attitude towards stuff like that.

no chances for Aces...but chances for Transylvania live...and why not...it's fan favorite, perfect for concept of the tour and great "introduction" of Simon
Playing Transylvania would be one of biggest surprises. I love the song, but Maiden to play an instrumental live again? Perfect for the concept? Well, why not, if for any tour. I don't think either will happen. Great introduction of Simon would be a Drum solo.
Only to Aces High I think.
Although I am not sure if they used it in 2022.
In 2019, yes, but the opener was Aces High. Can't find in 2022. Maybe it was used because of the game?
I suspect the intro will consist of Transylvania with a history photo montage on the screen(s).
Likely.

Killers (the track) is one I've been hoping for ages to be played again. Before the announcement of Nicko's retirement I had resigned myself that it would be too hard on his wrists and thus out of the question, so I'd be delighted if they can bring it back thanks to Simon.

I have always felt the song sounded much better with DiAnno than with Bruce (I prefer Remember Tomorrow and Phantom of the Opera with Bruce though).

That's fair. I'd rather an "inferior" version than hearing the same old classics for the millionth time though. This tour is the perfect opportunity for a track like that, without feeling out of place, even if it's not necessarily the optimal way to experience the song.
