Respect is the more famous song, and I just heard its opponent for the first time. But Edge of Seventeen has a good build-up, with strong tension and vocal melodies. It's deeper. Way more in my lane.
 
I heard a rumor (can't confirm it) that the drum sound on Edge Of Seventeen was inspired by Prince's drum sound.

One of those nights in 1982 I spent several dollars worth of quarters on video games at an arcade that played this song nonstop. So, Edge Of Seventeen to this day reminds me of Donkey Kong Junior.

My votes:

I like REO a lot. First album I ever owned was REO. A better REO song, like "Roll With The Changes", might have done the trick here... but this REO song does not beat Layla.

As expected, the second pair keeps getting tougher every day. The Queen song is superb like you'd expect, but there's a "primitive" charm to the Doors song. It's not a complex song, it's just their pure essence. Break On Through

And then it's Paul McCartney x2 for the second half. This Seger song is actually my favorite Seger song, and I'd vote for "Hollywood Nights" over "Live And Let Die" if that were the matchup.
 
I haven't really been paying attention to the seeding portion of the game.
Interesting to see Layla is a top-10 track and well-deserved. REO has no chance.
I like the Doors song, but its Queen and this song always feels so warm
The other four sections are all relatively substandard, but Die and Nights are both fine.
 
"Layla", of course, though the REO song is solid, perfectly listenable radio rock.
The second pair comes down to day-to-day mood changes more than anything else. Today I'm feeling Doorsy.
And then Paul comes at us with two great songs.

I think this is the first time I voted for top seeds only. I remember voting lower seeds only a couple of days ago.
 
By the way, if you've never heard the uncensored "Break On Through", check the vid I posted above. All drug references intact.
