Mob Rules and Born Again join the battle!

Born Again: Disappointing album. Was enthusiastic going in because I really like Ian Gillan, but most of the songs are way too repetitive.

Voodoo, E5150, Country Girl, Over and Over, Stonehenge, Distrubing the Priest, The Dark, Zero to Hero, Hot Line, Keep it Warm (the instrumental section doesn't save it).

Agreed with Mosh's sentiments on Born Again.

Normally survivors urge me to have another fresh look, and listen to the songs with renewed attention. But that's not easy when two albums are added in one round. I haven't played these for a long while. Not sure what to do yet.

  1. Turn Up the Night (lesser copy of neon Knights)
  2. Voodoo (dull, repetitive)
  3. Country Girl (nice riff but repetitive)
  4. Slipping Away (dull and repetitive)
  5. Over and Over (not very bad, but still among the lesser songs of the album)
  6. Trashed (crap rock and roll song)
  7. Digital Bitch (most horrific vocals from the whole discography)
  8. Hot Line (repetitive)

In most cases (the only exception being Fluff) I have always liked the Black Sabbath instrumental tracks. On Mob Rules and Born Again but also on later releases, Geoff Nicholls succeeded in creating a dark, mysterious (sometimes sci-fi!) kind of atmosphere, providing a welcome addition to the music. I am also very grateful for his keyboards in the Tony Martin era, because they had profound impact on the sound and must have stimulated Iommi to come up with some of his most melodic and beautiful solos he ever did.
