Agreed.  I thought the same way as Deadboss one and a half years ago, and after my first gig I've been a concert addict. :)  Try out some "smaller" bands you like if you can first; they usually play in smaller venues, which is a good introduction.
 
Live music is the best - but don't just settle for the major acts in arena's, etc., pop down a local club or such like and go see an up and coming band. In my twenties I was down the Marquee in London almost every week and loved the experience.
 
Yeah, but that was (believe it or not) a little bit before my gig watching time. :D
