Just saw that top ten thing. That's a really strange top ten for Opeth. Burden? Godhead's Lament? To Bid You Farewell? Not that those are bad songs, I love Burden in particular, just seems like a strange choice.
 
Although I don't think Opeth has a problem with being compared to Deep Purple

Back then I was not tempted to do that. I thought that the album sounded like a bunch of overlong jam sessions. Currently enjoying one of these sessions (drum solo in The Mule).
 
They are a live band no doubt about it...But Space Truckin' is "only" 20 mins long on Maiden Japan, they've done shows where it's more like 45 mins long :D
 
Well, live albums from the early seventies always have a bit of a jam session feel to it. It's the zeitgeist of the era. Deep Purple were famous for channeling the tensions between the individual band members into their musical performances, which is why their early gigs are often described as "battles" between Blackmore, Gillan and Lord.
