I haven't read any reviews of the concert I saw at Universal Amphitheater in LA. I got there a little late, saw (one of ?) the opening act and thought they sucked. The girl will have no vocal cords after one more performance like that. Iron Maiden was great, but I thought the concert would go on a little longer (maybe Burbank has sound regs?) What is the general (informed) opinion of how this concert rated against others you have seen (other Iron Maiden shows, other metal shows)? Just an interested fan.

I went to the 1/31 show at Universal.

I got to the Amphitheater at 1:00pm and waited with some other hard core fans for approximately 7 hours.

Once we got in we had to wait in several other places (security, wrist bands...). Then we got to the doors that led to the seating area, where we got screwed. The lady didn't open the door until somebody mentioned that the other doors were already opened. By the time we got in, the right side of the stage was filled with people. I got a spot on the rail on the right side, right in front of Janick.

Archenemy was cool, their guitar was insane, though, I think that the vocals are not too intriguing. My friend says that they play almost perfect music according to music theory. The concert was great, lighting, stage, and of course, musicianship. Unfortunately, due to my location, I was only able to receive basically Janick's audio, and I didn't hear much of Adrian's or Dave's solos. That didn't get me down, though as Janick was a great showman. Many times he played right in front of me and a few times I reached out and touched his guitar. During a speech before Dance of Death, Bruce was hit in the head with an ice cube, boy did he get mad, there is a link to his speech in my signature. However, the whole band still performed brilliantly. Paschendale was amazing with barbed wire, bodies, smoke on the stage and Bruce in army gear. Also, in Hallowed Be Thy Name, Bruce pretended to dive into the drum set, mocking his fall from the night before. The encore, was more of a set-up for Journeyman, although they did pretend to leave. During the encore, I caught one of Nicko's wrist bands (w00t!). The crowd was totally into Journeyman which was followed by Number of the Beast and Run to the Hills, a great way to end a great show. The only downer was that there were no Powerslave songs. However, Lord of the Flies sounded great with Bruce and all of the Dance of Death songs were amazing. Definitely a great night worth my $120 scalped pit ticket and the six hour wait.

I went... both nights...
I was pretty much in the same area both nights... Orchestra.. on Janick's side

Brilliant shows... Friday was great.... Saturday was bloody special [!--emo&--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/bowdown.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'bowdown.gif\' /][!--endemo--] [!--emo&--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/bowdown.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'bowdown.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

I went both nights too. Second night was better I think, if only because I was the first person into the pit, by good luck, and got a great spot along the rail.

I didn't like Arch Enemy too much, but I could appreciate they were all good musicians. And I'd probably marry the drummer.

Anyway, the show was incredible...Keyser Soze, I assume you're the same one from Ultimate Metal? I already posted my concert experience there, basically it was the best show I've ever been to.

The shows at the Univ. Amp. were both great. Sat. 1/31 was at a much higher level however. The crowd was energetic and the band fed off of it. The sound was better and louder. It was a very special night indeed [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]
