Wasted Years on German TV-Show

I just saw a video where Maiden "played" Wasted Years on some german tv-show. They having loads of fun and are swapping instruments all the time (Bruce plays guitars&drums, nicko playes guitar (!!!), steve looks quite lost behind the mikes...).

The "crowd" look like some elderly, who listen to german schlager, but not to metal. No one is moving (maybe they´re tapping their feet or something?? [!--emo&:huh:--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/huh.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'huh.gif\' /][!--endemo--] )!!!! My question is: are they making fun of the public attending this show or are they just having fun? Luckily for Maiden the song is playbacked, so they can joke around (the crowd won´t notice anyway). [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Does anyone have more info on this appearance?

im from germany .. i would like to watch it ... maybe i can tell u more

Yep - It's from the PMI Video '12 Wasted Years' released in late '87.
Bootleg version of this can be bought on Ebay for about $10.
They're not DVD-R, but they're not 'official', and I think they were pressed in Brazil. A link below takes you to such an item

I bought the Brazialian pressing of the LAD DVD and it played great - no problems.

I believe that the idea behind the Wasted Years performance was just a dig at that kind of show (I believe it was a German 'Top of the Pops') as they were not doing shows like Top of the Pops at the time. They were fed up of bossy directors etc ...

I own the 12WY DVD and the Video!

Well, it's not really a increase of quality, but if you like DVD's - it's cool!

And yes, I agree with you, I also think it was TOTP!
