User Ratings; Please Enlighten Me.

Can someone please explain the "user rating" system to me?  I seem to've fallen to a lowly -9, and I would like to know if this is a purely capricious, arbitrary and whimsical designation assigned to me by a moderator, or if this is some more objective, pre-existing rating system which functions automatically as I post.

Additionally, is their a record for lowest rating?  Does a certain rating automatically get me banned?  What can I do to improve my rating?  I came here looking for Maiden chat, but became embroiled in some censorship issues which quickly spiraled out of control.

Any info appreciated on this matter.

I'm actually going to reply. Members with 50 posts or higher can praise or kick. Praise means positive points. Kick's means negative. The reason you have negative is because some people have perhaps found some posts you've made dumb or annoying. And therefore kicked you.

I believe a certain poster called 'Child of the Grave' holds that title...-100 and something, last time I checked.

Nobody can be sure...the lowest anyone has got is around the -100 mark, so if you get kicked for having -900, we don't know.  I severely doubt it, though.

Just spend some time here, contribute positively to the topics, ignore any put-downs Mav may give you (He's a grumpy ol' bastard :D), and most importantly...don't worry about it.  If you post positively and show yourself to be a valuable member of the community, people will praise you (as is evidenced by Serratia's lofty rating).  If you don't...well, it's only a number, after all! :ok:

Umm... no. I used to have about -170, and Ascendancy actually had the lowest. I believe he had about -190. But it seems that his profile dissapeared, so I believe that adbavipain (sp?) has the lowest with about -72, last time I checked. Many members such Ascendancy and fuzzboy stopped coming here as much, if at all, when their rating got extremely low (whether coincedence or not.) I'm pretty much the only one that stuck around.
