69&72

70 was nice but 69 is a classic. Great track.

71 sounds like a broken prog rock/prog metal track. I didn't like 72 all that much but at least it felt complete.

70 & 72. I haven't heard of Borknagar before, but that track reminds me of Katatonia's recent stuff. Shall check them out further. I didn't mind 71 too much, it had some nice bits, but Mr Tremonti/Alter Bridge is the easy winner there.

Well, some people might -with stress I say: might- have enough of a track after listening to 2 or 3 minutes (I am not encouraging people to do this, I rather have people listening to every second), so they could turn it off before it ends. So in that way, they would not even know that there is silence. In that regard, looking at the track time can be of influence when making a choice. "Oh no, still 4 more minutes" makes more difference than e.g. 2 more minutes.

That Tremonti dude seems pretty cool and surprisingly inspirational. Thanks to that song, I just had a nice long jamming session and recorded some pretty sweet licks.
The Borknagar song is more to my taste than Zappa.

70 & 71.

I had heard 69 many, many times, but never knew it was a Zappa tune. Doesn't change my vote, though, as I really liked the ambiance and mood of 70.

71 had a few really great moments, and I enjoyed the hell out of it - proggy as it is. 72, though chock full of good playing, sounds like a demo track of different riffs or what would have been a really amazing solo section/bridge if it were placed in a longer song.

70 was boring, but at least it wasn't awful like the Zappa (try as I might, I simply cannot get into Zappa). 71 and 72 were a bit more interesting, but I preferred the Alter Bridge. None of these tracks evidence any real songwriting skill, however.

Peaches: Pleasantly groovy, laid back, & quite uplifting; but with quirky interludes. Didn't really go anywhere though.
The Plains: Lovely clean tone & nice melodies; quite melancholy. This evoked far more interesting emotions/moods, for me personally.
Vote goes with Borknagar (#70).
Hyperventilate: Interesting juxtaposition between different sections. Trying to quite a lot though; not sure if that worked.
Salad: Showcase of Tremonti's guitar playing. Liked it, but fairly standard twiddling to be honest. Track itself had potential.
Vote goes with Alter Bridge (#72).
