Number 37 has an awesome main riff indeed. But I am not that fond of the slow part because the chord progression reminds me too much of Comfortably Numb (in fact it is the same). After playing this pair for three times in a row (yes: sometimes, playing songs more often than once can help ;-), I decided to go with 38 because I like it better, overall.

37 and 39. 40 grabs your attention more than 39 initially, but after listening a couple of times, there is a lot of interesting stuff going on in 39, as is often the case with Pink Floyd. Plus, while not as fast with the fingers, Gilmour plays with far more passion than Satriani.

The first pair was very hard because I liked both of them a lot. In the end I went for 37.
By contrast, the second pair was too easy - 39 is Floyd and 40 is nice to listen to.

37 kicked some serious ass, edgy metallic adrenalin.
I could say the same for 38 as while, but it has a little more of a classic melody.
I'm voting 38, but both songs deserve to move on.

Gilmour's great, and the song is OK, but definitely Satch.

Technical Difficulties is awesome. The power of Paul Gilbert and Scott Travis. The In Flames song is pretty typical Power Metal, nothing that stood out for me.

The Pink Floyd song is just boring, not my taste apparently, and the drum sound is really dry. Satriani's Time Machine has some catchy tunes and beautiful licks and is cooler to listen to.

Technical Difficulties is one of my favourite instrumentals, hence the suggestion :) There's a version on youtube of Paul playing over a backing track improvising the back half of the song (and naturally no second guitar), couldn't decide which I preferred more so posted the album version, for anyone interested the alternate is here

Actually quite surprised and pleased with the reception to it here :)

Racer X: What's not to like about the Gilbert's guitar playing here? Great track.
In Flames: Kind of with Saap here; just a bit "heard it before". It was not bad though. Maybe it needs more than one listen.
Vote goes with Technical Difficulties (#37).
Mudmen: It's Floyd, but it's not that interesting. Again, perhaps a little unfair, for these slower tracks, in this game format.
Satriani: Not a massive Satch fan, but this is a decent track.
Vote goes with Time Machine (#40).
