Is this a cool round or what?

1) The Schenker piece is all fine and interesting guitar-play. Not too good at the start (imo) but gets better in the second half.
2) Although Final Gates is too repetitive, the riffs are beautifully melodic. The harmonised bass isn't something you hear every day. Vote goes with to Running Wild.

3) Oh man, one of my favourite instrumentals in this game, perhaps overall. The fast and funky guitar is accompanied by energetic drums (Scott Travis, who else) and it works out awesome! My only problem with it is that the calm solo section is very similar to Comfortably Numb, chord and background wise, not the solo itself.
4) Satch! The reverb-drenched drum tone, the masterfully constructed guitar parts perhaps put this song up in my Joe Satriani top 10. My favourite part is the chorus, if one can call it that. The melody is freaking spot-on. What's not to like here?
The second pairing is tough as hell but as Racer X is heavily in the lead here, I'll give my vote to Time Machine.

Saap with a good take on what is a killer round.
I've been a vocal torchbearer for Satch and Schenker but this time my votes are going the other way.

The MSG/Running Wild matchup is a good example of how an irresistible melody trumps all for me. Nemo has so many more parts and technically better playing, but I just can't get enough of the Final Gates melody.

And that will be how it ends up losing, pity votes tipping the scales :p

Well, it happens. They're tied at the moment, which is good because I consider these two equal. If I were to listen to both of these for the first time in my life, I would probably prefer Technical Difficulties but Satch's Time Machine has got more special/emotional for me over time.
