Top 50 Metal Songs Of All Time

I actually liked the 2nd one more. I like the Lamb Of God song too. But I think I'm kind of biased cos Hallowed got number one.
 
I've never heard it. I started to listening to Rainbow when Dio died, before that they didn't interest me. I'll give it a listen soon.
 
Lol at Breaking the Law above Painkiller in the first one. Most of these 50 "best" metal songs of all time are more like the 50 "most famous" metal songs of all time.
 
My impression is that people who make lists like these have a very limited knowledge of metal. Look at that list: It's mostly the classic metal bands with a bit of mallcore trickled in to have an alibi against claims that they don't keep up with what is happening at the moment. Other than that, it's mostly just Sabbath, Maiden, Priest and Metallica. Having two Slayer songs in there is almost something of an achievement, but other than that, even thrash metal is ignored. Not to mention the vast and diverse European metal landscape - you can tell this is an American's list. You can tell from the list that its author would like bands such as Children of Bodom or Running Wild, but I would wager he hasn't even heard of them. This is just trodding in age-old paths, with blinkers on and no awareness of what metal means to entire generations of fans. I can spend entire evenings in metal clubs without hearing a song by any single one of those bands and still feel I've heard nothing but the greatest of classics.
