The Iron Maidens - 8/1/13 show review

Last night was my first ever Iron Maidens concert, and it was a blast! I've been to many shows at Casino del Sol in Tucson, though usually at AVA (the amphitheater), so this was a new venue for me. Considering the stage is set at one end of the main casino hall, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have my doubts walking up...

But once the band took the stage it was like being transported back in time to one of Maiden's early gigs (albeit with vastly better looking performers). A large group of hardcore Maiden fans crowded at the front of the stage and sang along with every song. The band was in top form and sounded great (despite some issues with the guitar levels). I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they were doing two sets, with a meet and greet in-between.

Set One:
Aces High
Die With Your Boots On
The Evil That Men Do
The Trooper
Only the Good Die Young
The Duellists
The Number of the Beast
22 Acacia Avenue
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Iron Maiden

Set Two:
Wildest Dreams
2 Minutes to Midnight
Infinite Dreams
Wasted Years
The Wicker Man
Genghis Khan
Children of the Damned
Fear of the Dark
Phantom of the Opera
Run to the Hills

Highlights for me were "The Wicker Man", "Phantom of the Opera", "Wasted Years", and the epic "Children of the Damned". Thanks for the amazing show, ladies!

It's definitely worth it, a fun night all around. I highly recommend a show. Plus, there was no cover at the door, drinks were reasonable, and, at the end of the day...it's the next best thing to seeing Iron Maiden. And if I have to see a tribute band, I would rather that tribute band be made up of good-looking women. :D

Nah, I didn't have anything for them to sign, nor anything important to ask. Plus, every second that I spend talking to them in-between sets is time that they could be playing more songs!

I'm not even a fan of Duellists, but the guitar battle was great and the band pulled it off quite well. Only The Good Die Young and Children of the Damned were great to hear live (even if not by Maiden themselves)!
