I just thought I'd thank you for all the years of musical enjoyment you've given us and for the years of enjoyment surely to come. I don't care if you don't tour nearby or "show respect" to us fans by caring about each and every one of us and how we feel about what you do or where you go. I don't care how much you want for a concert ticket. I don't care if you sell some headphones (which are bad-assed BTW) or maybe market some beer with your name on it. What I care about is the music and that is what you care about, too. This cannot be said for so many bands out there and maybe it's my old age creeping up on me but somehow I have a deeper appreciation for it now than I ever did in the past. Somehow it's clearer to me now just how rare and awesome you really are.
Now, I'm not a fan club member or some other VIP celebrity and will probably never meet any one of you personally in my lifetime so I want you to know that you are all dear to my heart. Much like a cherished relative I will mourn you when you go. I may be just the same as many others who feel that same way when they press that PLAY button on their cassette deck or MP3 player and begin to hear that unique sound but somehow I feel special or different then, anyway. Not that you're playing just for me exactly but more that I feel like that teenage boy again bringing my new shiny "The Number Of The Beast" album in to 7th grade music class "show and tell" and playing the title track for the class.
You have always been uncompromising and unique and appear to have made every effort possible to remain that way. You have remained true to yourselves and your following. You have poured your hearts out for us. I thought it time someone do the same for you. This someone, anyway.
Cheers to you! AND Up The Irons!
