VH1 Classic will be premiering a one-hour special featuring select performances from Steve Vai's "Live At The Astoria London" DVD on Friday, May 21 at 9:00 p.m. VH1 will begin airing promos for the concert a week before the show. VH1 Classic is available for digital cable subscribers in the USA.
"Live at the Astoria London" is Vai's first-ever live performance DVD, and it clocks in at more than 3.5 hours (including bonus features). It was filmed at the Astoria in London, England, on December 6 and 7, 2001 while on tour promoting Vai's "Alive in an Ultra World" album.
Vai's all-star band includes bassist Billy Sheehan, drummer Virgil Donati, guitarist/keyboardist Tony MacAlpine and guitarist Dave Weiner.
