Songwriting Credits

I wonder if anyone has any insight into the Maiden songwriting credits. Specifically:

1 - Steve now gets a credit for every song. What do you think this credit usually involves when credit is shared between two or three of them? Is he just now putting his name to other people's compositions because he is band leader.

2 - Does the order the names are listed in each credit mean anything?

1. Steve has a credit on each song because he had a hand in writing each song. The Harris/Smith/Dickinson credit and the Harris/Smith credit were common on this album. For the other 2 writers they wrote music for thier tunes and Steve wrote lyrics. For the most part this album seemed to be driven by Steve and H and to a lesser extent, Bruce. 2. I'm not sure

I've always assumed that a Bruce credit means a Bruce lyric and usually you can tell that they're his words.
when Bruce has a credit he does the lyrics. It has always been that way.

Didn't Bruce pen two of Maidens finest songs...Revelations and Powerslave...by himself?
Yes. He prefers to work with H/'arry on songs. IIRC he did another PS song by himself. Think it was FOTB. Could be wrong though.

It was FotB. And BYD...TTS.

But if Bruce was massively into writing music then he would do more on his solo albums in terms of that, but that mainly seems to be H or Roy Z who do that.

In a recent interview, Steve stated that his role in this album has mainly been that he put fragments and ideas of the other members together into a working song.

Yes, and it's called arrangement. Music : Adrian Smith, Lyrics : Bruce Dickinson, Arrangement : Steve Harris.

Apart from his solo compositions, it seems that the lyrics for The Evil That Men Do is Adrian's. It has his kind of poetry.

Song credits, from my expierience are never black & white. I've worked with a number of different artists, and have contributed to more than 60 recordings however, I only have song credits on about 35 of these. For me, whoever has a reasonable amount of input on the song should be given credits, but some artists believe it's their song because they came up with the original idea.

No, I wish. Srapnel (Czech Republic), Wolf (German Band), Candy Harlots (Australia), XXX (Australia), RoadKill (USA), M.A.D (Australia), my biggest claim to fame was I use to smoke pot with Hanny Mohammed the guitarist from Black Majesty.

That's still cool that you help write songs. How did you get so involved with so many bands?

Power of the internet. Most were done in reply to band classifieds but the Candy Harlots & XXX I knew personally, I went to school with their lead singer who I used to write songs with growing up. He went on to record some of them ideas later on and gave me song credits on a couple of them. At the moment I'm collaborating with a German solo artist named Wolfgang Deimel where I write all lyrics and about 20% of the music, it's a lifelong passion.

Has it always been just Bruce and Steve who wrote the lyrics? Has Adrian written any?
22 acacia avenue i think and the Prisoner. I think he might of worked with Steve on those

I think Steve did Acacia Avenue (I'm sure I read it in an interview)and The Prisoner was one of Bruce's moral contributions to NotB.
