Something weird about the 1998 remastered albums.

Mega

Ancient Mariner
So I just bought some albums, and now I have 7 out of the 9 remastered albums form 1998.
I'm trying to put them together, side by side, to make the Eddie picture from the Iron Maiden album, but they don't really add up right.
One the side that opens, the Seventh son disc has it's part backwards, and both it and SiT has his left eye.
On the side that dosent open, his right eye is missing between Powerslave and SiT.
Just wanted to know if this is normal.

Yes it's normal. A mistake was made when the covers originally went to print.

To get the full picture you need to line the cds up in their proper order, but some need to be backwards (I can't remember which ones off hand though!). Just experiment a bit. ;)

Aw, that's kinda dissapointing.
Nevermind. Say, are there really 9 albums that form this picture or are there some live albums that are in there?

It includes the live Albums, Live After Death, A Real Live/Dead One and Live at Donington.

Oh. Well, I guess I have to get those now too. Maybe.

Side note: The inside of the SiT booklet is ugly as hell. Someone needs photoshop lessons.

From the Oxford English Dictionary:

metalhead

  • noun person who owns and appreciates Life After Death by British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden.

That's true I guess. and I do, but I put the priority on the studio albums for now.

So what's the order I should put them in? Logic says LAD should be between Powerslave and SiT, but the picture seems weird between SiT and SSoaSS.

Maiden fan

  • noun person who knows how to properly spell Live After Death.

Y'know, technically, he didn't say he doesn't have LAD. He only said he doesn't have the 1998 remaster version.

Personally, I have 4 versions:
the original double vinyl (proudly and prominently displayed on the wall of my family room)
the original CD version, missing side 4 of the album
the 1998 remaster CD
the recently released DVD

And maybe 5, because somewhere in a box in the basement I think I have a bad VHS copy of the original VHS version.

Actually, I have the new DVD. Still need to watch the early days part 1 so I can check out part 2.

I got a feeling that he didn't own the official album release, in whatever format. If he would have another version I am sure he would have raced to the shop to buy the 1998 version.

Just guessed, but indeed I could have been wrong. ;)

+

the 1995 2 Disc edition, containing the tracks from the first 3 LP sides plus a bonus CD with live versions of:

1. Losfer Words (Big 'Orra)
2. Sanctuary
3. Murders in the Rue Morgue

Wait, youre saying that if I did own any release I would buy another, and if I didn't, I wouldnt buy any?
That dosent make alot of sense at all. Also I'm only 17, and I only started listening to Maiden about 7 years after the remasters, so I barely have access to those, let alone the originals.

You do have access to the 1998 release. If not mistaken, all your Maiden CD's are from 1998.

I am basically saying: If you know what you're missing you would be buying it sooner than if you don't know what you're missing. If you have a different CD release of LAD you surely would be eager to have the complete album (which is the 1998 release version, and the most accessible version of all). Since you don't have any CD version I can imagine that you don't know how strong this live album is.

This shouldn't be taken too seriously because, on the other hand, you have the LAD DVD, so you know what it can sound like. Still, the CD release has 5 more tracks which are a must to have.

Short version: I am only saying that I never would buy LAD as one of the latest albums (but these are just my 2 cents).

By access I meant that there arent that many CD stores in here that sell IM albums, and even then there arent that many. Also, I have downloaded the LAD album, and I have to say that it sounds pretty bad compared to the DVD. Maybe I need to listen to it properly and not through the earphones.
