So is it hard to get into the places and get to your seat?

I have been reading a lot of comments on youtube, about people not being allowed inside or are stuck outside in line and missing Dream Theater...

I am a bigger Iron Maiden fan, but am still a Dream Theater fan. I do not want to miss them! So does anyone know what is a good time to get there, so you can quickly get in and get to your seats?

I am going to the July 18 show in Chicago. On my ticket, it doesn't say anything about what time doors open, but it just plainly says "7:30 PM" (which i'm guessing is the time Dream Theater will start playing?)

We have a long drive to make, about 5 hours (we are planning to leave around 9-10 am that day)... I am thinking of maybe getting to the place around 4-5 pm. Is this early enough? I would just like some recommendations please, because I really don't want to miss Dream Theater, and supposedly a lot of people have been complaining about not getting in the places or to their seats in a timely manner.

I'd say get to the venue and be sure you're in line an hour before what is printed on the ticket start time.  Most venues open at least an hour before anything starts.

Answer: that site is not one bit reliable.

It says the same thing about the Denver show I went to ("doors open at 7:30"). And that was not true: Dream Theater's set was halfway done by 7:30.

Doors usually open 2 hours before the show, which is usually 5:30.

Denver started early, because local noise laws say it's got to be over by 10:30. I heard rumors about other shows starting early too.

I got to the venue at 6:45 in Denver, and the gates were open. It took about 30 minutes to get through the line.

The point is: my ticket said 7:30 showtime and it started at 7:10. So if the OP is really paranoid about missing DT, consider that 6:45 was not early enough in Denver. That's all I can say.
