So Iron Maiden are apparently favourites to headline glastonbury next year

For those who didnt know, Metallica headlined glasto this year to a remarkably pro metal audience (even the arm chair viewers) which as led to people guessing who will headline next year. Well according to bookies, Iron Maiden are the favourites even though Brucie has said many times the band wouldn't play there. Thought it was interesting as it seems weird how the bookies are singling Maiden as the favourites. Anyway wouldn't read much into it, just wondering what you guys would think if Maiden did headline it?

Heres a link to one of the sites reporting the odds for next years glasto http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-e...eadline-as-odds-slashed-for-acdc-9571634.html

I hope they don't either, especially if it was the only date they played in the UK. I wouldn't want to pay to go to a festival I have little to no interest in just to see Maiden.

I'm completely with Brigs on this one. And NP.

I may be wrong (I never check facts before posting), but Jay-Z's headline set a few years back didn't lead to a flurry of hip-hop headliners did it? So, no reason for Metallica to lead to another metal headliner. It might suit AC/DC though, as they'd bring their own fans (like Metallica did) but also are a good party act for non-fans.

No way, EVER will that happen. Bruce has only just come out and said that they will never play it and gave Metallica stick for doing it. :google:
One of the main reasons, among many others, is that Glastonbury sells out (ticket wise) before any bands are even announced. Thus, not giving any "real" Maiden fans the option of going. Never mind the bookies. They are in it for one thing alone, and have probably figured that some Maiden fans will back anything Maiden related. :lol:It won't happen.

The difference between Metallica and Maiden is that Metallica are very much keen to expand to fans of different genres as much as possible without losing sight of their metal roots. Maiden are more stingy in that regard, but that's actually a good thing, as they don't risk jeopardizing the people who are solely there for the metal. That's the reason why Metallica is more of a household name, but Maiden is favoured by metal purists.

Metallica did it to expand their horizons whilst Maiden are perfectly content in being dedicated to the metal genre. That's why they won't do it.

Maiden won't do it. Metallica did troll Glastonbury's hippie attitude with their intro so I think it was cool of them do.

Iron Maiden: We'll never play Glastonbury.
