SATYRICON guitarists Steinar Gundersen and A.O. Gronbech were arrested and charged in Canada for drugging and raping a woman in the band's tour bus after a concert in Toronto.

"I can confirm that the Norwegian consul in Toronto has been in contact with the arrestees, and followed up by, among other things, visiting them in jail and obtaining legal assistance," said Anne Lene Dale Sandstein, press officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to Norwegian TV 2 Nettavisen.

According to Canadian police, the crimes were committed after SATYRICON had performed at the club Fun Haus in Toronto last Tuesday (Dec. 14), reported the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet.

"A woman from Toronto explained that she went with the two Norwegian musicians to their tour bus," said Kristin Bacharach at the Toronto police to the paper. There she was reportedly drugged and sexually assaulted.

Bacharach confirmed that the two musicians have been arrested and are charged. DNA tests have been taken. If found guilty, the two musicians may be sentenced to ten years in prison.

As a result of the musicians' arrests, the remaining dates on SATYRICON's North American tour with 3 INCHES OF BLOOD (including a New York show) were cancelled.
 
That's too bad...I've been a fan of Satyricon for a while now. Mind you, their guitaring isn't exactly anything phenomenal, so possible replacement candidates won't be an ordeal to go through, but it's still too bad to see the band members participating in such an act.
 
Stupid assholes , well there are more black metal bandmembers who knows the insides of prisoncells.... whats wrong with those idiots ?!

[/quote]Don't be ignorant. There are also lots of people in other music genres that get jailed, or worse.

But, if that is true, then I'd say it's because most black metallers are fucked up (something I strangely admire, in part because I am as well). Know about the Mayhem church burnings, the murder of Mayhem's singer by Varg, the suicide of Dead (first Mayhem singer)? Yeah, that's basically what's given black metal such a bad reputation - just a couple of bands. And, it's not like the music they produce is affected in a negative way because of these events. Hell, Varg did some awesome keyboard stuff for Burzum while in prison. I like black metal as well, not as much as a couple of years ago but immortal ,mayhem ,burzum ,satyricon, darkthrone, and dark funeral, to name a few , are great band. But most bandmembers are a bit out of order , more then other musicstyle's i think, cause you have to be a bit agressive yourself to play that kind of music, i dont see britney spears go and burn a church.

[/quote]That's because Britney is happy with her fame and fortune and huge plastic tits. Most of them couldn't care less about money, because if they did, they sure as Hell wouldn't be playing black metal.
