Rush best band ever? hmm, i seriously doubt that, sure their good, but best ever? "Best" and "Worst" are truely relative to time. I think Iron Maiden are a great band but without the Beatles there wouldn't be any Iron Maiden, or Black Sabbath or many others. That's why many pundits agree as the Beatles as the best band ever, if you listen closely to music before them and after them you could really call them the Fathers of Hard Rock. Well, OK. But right now they are my favourite band. I've never heard a band before that can create moods like them, absolutely amazing.
 
Rush is damn good indeed. They'd make my list of the 20 greatest bands ever, but probably not in the top 10. Plus, as a bass player, I am required by law to worship Geddy Lee. Oh yeah, he's definitely one of the best bass players in the world.

SMX, in that case, as a bass player, you should be required to worship Victor Wooten by Law! [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--] And I'm not saying they are not great, because they are probably CANADA'S greatest band, but just the EVER thing got to me hehe. I highly respect Victor Wooten, but I haven't heard much of his stuff (just the first Flecktones album), so it's not quite worship yet.

BTW, I took my nick from the song "Sinister Minister" on that Flecktones album.

Check them out indeed! Very well worth it. Also Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. They are not metal more like fusion but again, EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS. SMX, I knew I had seen that name somewhere before, you should check out their "Left of Cool" cd. Must listen too track is "Big Country". See them live if you can Wooten will blow you away! Alex Lifeson is one of the most underated guitar players around

and yeah i agree the mood on Roll the Bones CD stands out the most
 
Just got the Rush Rock in Rio live DVD a few weeks back - freakin' amazing!! Of course I always knew that Geddy was godlike, but I had almost forgotten how Neil Peart is simply BEYOND HUMAN. His drum solo on that DVD is one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen.

I have liked Rush much longer though, since I was 11 they have been my favorite. Anyway, everyone should definitely check them out! Exit Stage Left album is great to listen to!

Rush is ok, but i wouldn't call them fantastic... The n again i haven;t called maiden fantastic for the last ten years...

Really, is it worth getting? I might have to get that as a warm-up for July.
