We all know that Maiden likes to do (long) songs with soft intro, especially since the X Factor and most of them are pretty good. But what are your favourite ones. Because there is 46 songs (must be a poll list record ) you can cast up to ten votes. I haven't included TFF songs because some of us including me haven't heard them yet. If I forgot some intros which in your opinion should be on the list then let me know, also there are some debatable song intros e.g Fear Of The Dark, which starts not so quietly but then goes to sweet soft melody. Remeber to vote for the intros not for the songs which you like. My choices are Hallowed,Alexander, Sign of the cross, Clansman,Ghost of the Navigator,BNW,Face in the Sand, Longest Day,FTGGOG and Legacy
Wow that list IS long :D

BTATS doesn't have a quiet intro.

We are not the suns of God
We are not His chosen people now
We have crossed the path He trod
We will feel the pain of His beginning. . .

THANK YOU for giving us ten options. I was wracking my brain trying to pick just one.

Let's see. . .
Remember Tomorrow
Still Life
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
Moonchild
The Clairvoyant
Afraid to Shoot Strangers
Sign of the Cross (love those second octave vocals)
The Clansman
The Longest Day
The Legacy.

I think Childhood's End's intro is pretty quiet, and had it been there I would've selected it, but maybe it's just the song entirely that's pretty quiet.

Strange World
Hallowed Be Thy Name
The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner
Infinite Dreams
Afraid To Shoot Strangers
Fortunes Of War
Look For The Truth
2 A.M.
The Educated Fool
Ghost Of The Navigator

I agree with you on Strange World and disagree on Remember Tomorrow, but both will stay on the list and as Moonchild33 said BTATS has quiet beginning

Well I tought about it when I made the list and decided not to include it but as I said before if you think it fits in the poll then your wish is granted, but now you must dump one song from your list to make room for the Childhood's End

Still Life
Moonchild
Infinite Dreams
The Prophecy
Afraid To Shoot Strangers
Sign Of The Cross
2 A.M.
The Clansman
Blood Brothers
The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg

It was hard for me to narrow down 16 choices to 10

Murders In Rue Morgue
Still Life
The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner
The Prophecy
Sign Of The Cross
Fortunes Of War
2 A.M
Look For The Truth
Face In The Sand
The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg

Not in a special order :

Hallowed Be Thy Name
Still Life
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
Sign of the Cross
Afraid to Shoot Strangers
Blood Brothers
Ghost of the Navigator
Dance of Death
Alexander the Great
Children of the Damned

Aw crap. If I had to dump one, it would be ATSS, but I wouldn't be too happy about it. . .

Hallowed Be Thy Name

Lol, on Beast this song comes in with a bang. Burr hits the crash cymbals, Nicko did well to change that. Also: the intro's speed is way too fast on the studio version.

Far from a quite beginning!

Now, with The Final Frontier out, The Man Who Would Be King is on my top ten quiet beginnings in place of Ghost Of The Navigator. One of Maiden's best.

In no particular order:
Hallowed Be Thy Name
For the Greater Good of God
Ghost of the Navigator
The Aftermath
Starblind
Paschendale
Mother of Mercy
Blood Brothers
Infinite Dreams
Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner

My favourite quiet beginning would be Hallowed Be Thy Name, one of the first songs I've heard from Maiden and probably their best, and the intro is as good as the song so it's saying a lot.

Other great quiet intro's:
Face in the Sand (one of the best tracks in the album and the beginning is awesome, great melody)
Alexander The Great
Blood Brothers
For The Greater Good of God
The Man Who Would Be King (probably their best intro, it creates a magical mood for the song)
When The Wild Wind Blows (my favourite song from them and that quiet intro is just amazing, and the vocal melody is out of this world, beautiful)

I could name much more songs but these are enough I suppose.

Children Of The Damned - Great bass-guitar cooperation.
The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner - Very melodic pseudo-solo.
Blood Brothers - The notes blend into each other on this one just so much.
Dance Of Death - This almost folkish intro together with Bruce's voice gives me chill.
The Legacy - Acoustic guitar at it's top.
Como Estais Amigos - The images! I can see it like ending of some war film. Tired faces wet from sweat and tears, slowly walking home.
Run Silent, Run Deep - Very atmospheric intro. I'm surprised no one voted for it yet!
When The Wild Wind Blows - Much like Run Silent, Run Deep. Peaceful, relaxed and thrilling at the same time.
For The Greater Good Of God - Steve.
The Man Who Would Be King - I am totally speechless on this one. Just wow.

Can some moderator or someone tell me why can't I change my vote(s). In poll's settings I made it possible to change votes. I remember that I changed my votes some time ago, but now I can't change anymore. Is there some rule that says you can change your votes only once or is there some time limit?
Anyway the reason why I want to change my votes is When The Wild Wind Blows . It's intro is just fantastic. It's beautifully melodic and at the same time ominous
