To those hoping for a reunion tour/album, don't get your hopes up.

According to Pink Floyd fansite Brain-damage.co.uk, a fascinating new interview in well-respected Italian newspaper La Repubblica has David Gilmour talking bluntly about the rumoured future of Pink Floyd. "The band? It's over. Reunited because of the good cause, to get over the bad relationship, and not to have regrets. I think I've had enough. I am 60. I don't want to work much anymore. It's an important part of my life, I have had enormous satisfactions, but now it's enough. It's much more comfortable to work on my own. The issue about Roger is irrelevant, because even without him I don't want to go on as Pink Floyd. I'm happy with my life. Playing as Pink Floyd is a business too big for me now. When you move as a band, all is gigantic, the expectations are enormous, the pressures very high. We have been asked to play one hundred gigs! I am fine as I live now. It was fantastic but now I don't feel like any more."

Well, that's it then, my favourite band has called it a day. They leave an incomparable catalogue behind them, but it still hurts I'll never get to see them live [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/sad.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":(\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sad.gif\" /]

It is a sad day for rock music but I wasn't expecting any more to be honest. why would a group of 60 year old men want to continue when they are already millionaires and legens in the industry. I think it's a good idea that they won't make a new album because that might have ruined their legendary status. Goodbye, and farewell to the boys, it's been one heck of a ride [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/cool.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"B)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"cool.gif\" /]

Pink Floyd IMO, is the best band ever. Only for the fact that they have diversified their music as much as they did over the years makes them legendary. But to have released albums like DSOTM, The Wall, WYWH, Meddle, The Division Bell, by the same band, is monumental...

Hmm, I always thought that everything they released after (and including) Momentary Lapse of Reason "ruined their legendary status."

After Live 8 I was anxiously awaiting a reunion tour, which would have been fantastic, but now I will have to face a life without seeing Pink Floyd live, like many others of you.

I do agree, although I liked the Division Bell. I've always believed that the boys were right to go on without Rog. Anyway, they toured, made a lot of money and millions of fans could see them. OK. I can understand the position of Gilmour because the last 2 world tours were really HUGE and more than 10 years haved passed since the last one...
Better stop the band before they really become old farts no??? We (fans) still have the cryptic recordings that regularly appear here and there like the Final Cut demos that surfaced some years ago...it's history and it's better than nothing...... R.I.P.

Well, after Live 8 I sort of hoped for a tour, although I didn't expect one. I guess it's better this way though - while I'm sure it would have been great I'd rather see my favourite band end on a high note than doing a tour they're not really into.

Regarding their last albums, I personally love the later David Gilmour-led stuff. I've always thought he's on par with Roger Waters as a songwriter and Roger had too much input on the last couple of albums before he left. The best Pink Floyd albums (Wish You Were Here and earlier) were group efforts and I really think the band lost something when they stopped working as a band (I still love the later stuff though).

Again I do agree. I think that The final Cut is below their quality standards. Roger wasn't very creative (musically speaking) and should have allowed Dave to contribute to the music. The behavior of Roger started to be a problem in 1976 when they recorded Animals... My favorite recordings are earlier (Dark side, Atome heart mother, Meddle ...).
Have anybody here listened to Roger's last solo stuff? Pretty strange.

You mean Ca Ira or Amused to Death? Ca ira is Roger's latest stuff, but it's opera (i'm talking opera, not rock opera) but Amused to Death was his last rock album, and I love it. It's brilliant! As good as The Division Bell, in my oppinion.

I mean Ca ira. It's very difficult to listen to for me because I'm not used to this type of music.
I love Amused To Death and in my opinion it is far better than The Division Bell! Roger is sipposed to release a new rock album later this year. Wait and see... [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/sleep.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"-_-\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sleep.gif\" /]
