Only two US Tourdates in 2011!?

I thought they'd add more dates between April 17 and May 28, but with the tour starting in 6 days, it doesn't seem likely.

Why are we getting only two dates?  Yes we got the 2000s tour last year, but that wasn't really a Final Frontier tour given that they played only El Dorado.

The new albums rocks and I really want to hear WTWWB and other new songs, but I can't make it to Florida.

It was either

2010: you and 2011: us
either
2010: us and 2011: you

I am lucky it's like this because I live not in the States.

Didn't maiden just tour the U.S.? This is starting to get annoying and justifies anyone calling us "Greedy American fans". let the rest of the world have their maiden too.

The real losers are the Canadians. By all regards they seem to be very loyal fans and the band seems to like them as well. And I say this as a disappointed New Yorker who just assumed they'd play here. Might just have to fly down to PR for a little sun.

Yea I don't get why they don't tour much of Canada. They seem to like playing there a lot.

They did just play the US, my complaint is not so much that they are not touring here back to back, but that (outside of these 2 Florida dates), The Final Frontier Tour only consisted of one song from TFF album.  I'd have prefered they did not play here last year and came back after Europe and play a set that includes songs from the new album.  I'm certainly not complaning about the show I saw, it was great, rather that it was not really TFF Tour.

Uh, yes.  From the original post (that you replied to):

I'm not complaining, but rather asked my question because I am genuinely surprised and curious (and of course disappointed), especially given [1] the six week gap after the Florida dates and [2] the note on their website that says more 2011 dates will be announced.  I wonder if they had initially planned a larger US tour, but decided against it for some reason.  Maybe ticket sales in 2010 weren't what they'd hoped for (though the show I went to was sold out) or maybe they simply decided to take a mid-tour vacation.

Anyway, I agree with bearfan.  And I'm still hoping for more US dates, but I am increasingly pessimistic.

This is still part of the Final Frontier tour. 2010 and 2011 is the same tour only difference is a set list change. They can't go everywhere and they would rather visit places they haven't been to in a while such as the first date, Moscow. They are also doing an extensive UK tour. (something that has been a long time coming) They'll be back to the U.S. probably next year and I'm sure TFF songs will be played in the U.S. at some point.

If they wanted to come to places they didn't come to in a while they should come here ;)

I guess I do not see the point of the pre-album tour ... again I was happy with the show we got, they sounded great and I like the songs they played ... but my feeling is the next set of US shows will be the next catalog tour and given the age of the band, there is  a decent chance that these Florida dates are the only dates the TFF songs get played in the US.

Damn right. I may not have been a Maiden fan for very long, granted, but the fact that there was 19 years in between visits to the nation's capital is pretty ridiculous. The show here was great, I don't want to have to wait another decade to see Maiden (or worse, they never come back again).

You got last years tour and plenty of Somewhere Back in Time dates. Isn't that more than enough? Since their last UK tour in 2006 Maiden have only played three shows in their home country - Download 07, Twickenham 08, Sonisphere 10. You've had your fix, now let us have ours.

Yes, it is a bit annoying to us USA fans, but it's the way it is and it is the rest of the world's turn. I'm sure Maiden will be back here for a longer tour at some point in time.

I am going to try real hard to make one of those shows, I jsut will not know if I can go until a week or two before the show.

If those two are the only TFF dates, and next tours play older songs, then maybe, just maybe, Maiden feels that the US fans do not care to hear the new material, at least not as much as other parts of the world.  Hopefully, that speculation is wrong.  I hope they'll tour Toronto sometime next year.
